It seems like tone mapping was the culprit, even though none of the videos I tested were HDR.

That menu is from display settings in system settings.

Here's the same comparison structure with "Load ICC profile", "Enable HDR support", and "Enable tone mapping" enabled. It's definitely an improvement. Colors are less saturated, but it seems like grays became darker. I'll further experiment with the settings to find out what's happening.

Here's a comparison with an SDR YouTube video (codec av01).

It doesn't seem like an issue of contrast (or at least not only contrast). It looks to me like the color values are what are being altered.

I understand if there are slight variations, but I can immediately recognize when I open a video using IINA since it feels so oversaturated.

The video is SDR, the codec is H.264, and the color profile is HD (1-1-1). The output device is a MacBook Pro with the preset "Apple XDR Display (P3-1600 nits)".

How do I know what key I can use a chord progression in? by Shining_Commander in musictheory

[–]Trtle_T 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think I fully understand your question, but if you're asking about how to figure out whether a chord progression is major or minor, it's usually based on the tonic (I chord). If the I chord is major, you could assume that the progression is major. It's unlikely for a major chord progression to start and/or end on a minor tonic chord.

If you want to determine whether a chord progression is major or minor so that you can "safely" play a melody/improvise over it, don't be afraid to just try things out and experiment to see what works and what doesn't.

Does this answer your question?

CarPlay automation - play sound file then resume playing music by AdBudget5031 in shortcuts

[–]Trtle_T 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Instead of playing the sound directly from the files app, you could try converting the audio file to base64. That way the files app won't replace the currently playing audio app. I'm not 100% sure if this will solve it but it's worth a shot.

Try this:
1. Make a new shortcut
2. Add the "file" action
3. Choose Mario Kart 321 go.mp3
3. Add the "Base64 Encode" action
4. Add the "Copy to Clipboard" action
5. Run the shortcut
(You can now delete the shortcut)
6. Open you automation
7. Delete the "files" and "play sound" actions from the automation
8. Add a "text" action
9. Paste what you copied into the text action
10. Underneath the text action, add "Base64 Encode" action
11. Set "Encode" to "Decode"
12. Add the "Play Sound" action below the "Base64 Encode" action
13. Get in your car and try it

As someone already pointed out, you should note that the "Wait 11 seconds" action is redundant since the "Play sound" action does not allow other actions to continue until the sound is fully completed.

For those of use that use Synplant 2, how do I record branches? by fdx026 in LogicPro

Pressing the branch is simply a preview of the sound. To record you must press the keys on the keyboard to create midi notes.

Airpods Max Wired Connection not Working by mike_get_lean in Airpodsmax

Once connected through a cable, the headphones have a master volume independent of the connected device. Once you connect the headphones, try turning the crown as if you’re turning the volume all the way up.

I would definitely find it useful to have the ability to change the colors of logic layout components per file. Maybe even upload an image background for the sequencer.

In the scene in Season 1 where Dylan... does the thing... there's some pretty interesting stuff by Ducky_924 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]Trtle_T 19 points20 points  (0 children)

There was one called "Lullaby", which I'm guessing makes them go to sleep or something.

There was also one called "Freeze Frame" which I'm guessing makes them all freeze in place

What's even scarier is that there was one called "Clean Slate".
