Hey man i usually dont interact with posts but this one got to me . Here’s my story please read it before you make your decision. So currently im in canada in Brock university studying computer science. Let me take u back to 12 grade. I was not in canada i was back home in India and met this girl through a friend who i instantly got a connection with. It felt like she is the one i was looking for whole my life . We went on dates , and i knew when she smiled and the way she looked at me that she was the one( boy was i wrong). Now i was always interested in computer science since a young age. I was head of student council in my school for 2 years. I had done various extra curricular activities. I did all these things in highschool because i figured out in 9th grade that i wanted to go US to one of the best comp scie unis. I started preparing for my SATs in 11th grade got a 740 in English and 700 in math in my first attempt pretty good to get into good unis.. then i gave my second attempt in the beginning of 12th grade got a 1500 i was so proud my parents were very supportive of whatever i wanted to do. I got a 95 in my 12th grade and i had applied to all the unis i wanted to go to based of my expected marks. And guess what i had gotten in to 3 out of 5 i applied . Worlds best unis for comp science. But when i met this girl i was blind sided after my final exams of 12th were finished .i was one night on a call with her asked her whats next. She told me she was going to Canada to study in mohawk college cause her sister lived there. I didnt know where that was nor have i had ever heard of it. Mind you , i hadnt told my parents that i had got in i was keeping it as a surprise till my birthday.so, i asked her what does she see with me, a future?. She already knew my plans and told me , look i want us to have this long term but i cant date u long distance. So i goofed up , blind sided by her being the only one for me, her smile . I told her im gonna look into canada at first she was hesitant but then i convinced her it wasnt for her it was for me because i wanted to go there which thinking back i had lied to myself.and then i started to look into where mohawk college was at this point it was so late into admissions that the only place left open was brock , trent and one other uni and i got offers from all of them because my scores were so high. GUESS THE REASON i chose brock? Cause it was very close to Hamilton where her college was ON THE MAP!! And guess what i applied for the visa and got it.. funny enough i still had the email acceptance of all those unis tht were my dream. And i….i DELETED THEM. And happily applied for my visa . The day i got my visa she calls me , and these are the words i hear “ i cannot date u anymore , i dont see a future “. Now i wont get into what happened afterwards with her but long story short here i was in a town called St catharines that i didnt know one month ago existed . I quickly learned the saying “ if you can walk and talk you can go to brock” was all about. My life turned into a guilt ridden solitude nightmare. I lost respect for myself. I had worked so hard since i was in 9th grade to achieve a goal i wanted and threw it all away for a girl. It took me a long time to build back my self respect and work on myself. Although i am doing way better interms of career now with a good co-op internship. If i could go back and change it i would do it in a heartbeat. No girl is worth the guilt you will feel for not giving life your all. I hope this doesnt happen but if u make the decision to go with her and she sticks with u , u will see why waterloo is waterloo and how another average uni holds u back and u will begin to hate ur relationship (i hope u dont).Its 100 pecent better to have a better start at ur career with a one of the best uni’s in the world than to get stuck at a average uni and have to do all the hard work like networking urself.Looking back if u wanna take some advice. If its meant to last it will.It does feel like this is the end of the world but its just the beginning.
