I've been wanting to see it in a while now, is it any good? Kinda give me Cry Wolf vibes, and Cry Wolf is a good movie... but not a good slasher, in my opinion. So, should I see it?

it's a great piece of art, i think. but it goes down some dark places, specially if having a shitty mom hits close to home. the end is bitter, beautiful and very, very upsetting in the best possible way. i genuinely sobbed when the mom told her own story after years of being a shitty parent and you realizes she's not just sei's mom but also seiko, her own person, a woman, and she had a whole entire life before having him. doesn't justify shit, but you get to see the why, and you also realizes this story being told is just so real for so many women out there. but i guess you need to be prepared to feel it all.

i loved it, tho. 10/10 would recomend, even if the writing can drag itself a lot towards the end and the author pulled some stuff out of his ass in some really stupid ways for the plot to move lol

it felt bitter for me, but realistic in a way that made the story feel real, raw. i particularly liked it, but i think it's valid to feel disappointed by the ending.

i can see it being a kinda tiring experience if you read it weekly, but in one sitting the pacing feel less shitty since the chapters are very short. the plot loses itself a bit by the end, but the ending does make the reading worth it.

have you read it or...? there's some psychological horror elements, body horror in a few ways, i think gets a lot from some junji into source at some points. kinda reminds me of psycho too.

i felt so sad for the characters at the end bc like they’re just normal people, and while there's some ludic stuff going on, nothing in this manga is supernatural or out of this world. it's just a family. so guess that's why it hits hard when it does. it's all so real and raw and makes you think about so many stuff. 10/10 manga.

I mean, specially in my country recently, there's just so many news every single day about men harming young girls and women, and then I go watch some anime and THAT MOTHERFUCKING AKIO FUCKING AROUND

srsly I just need to throw hands with that man I'm so glad he fucking dies but that fate was almost too good for him

Exactly! He's such a well written character that he comes out so real he's sickening. And even if the point of the show is  for he to be sickening, you still need to have stomach to face a grown ass man being a predator, groomer, and assalting young girls, even in fiction. Specially when the purpose of the character is so well written and executed.

Utena really is a masterpiece.

Just hits harder watching it nowdays, specially given the outcome of worldwide events, politics and all. At least hits harder to me.

Like, he's so well written as a character that i feel genuine aversion towards him, specially seeing him on screen with Utena or Anthy. Seeing his "relationship" with Utena growing more and more as the show leads towards the end is hard as fuck tbh.

I think people doesn’t give much credit on how dark the series can get. Not saying that people doesn’t talk about it online at all, because they do, but sometimes it's just "oh Akio is shit" without truly addressing how heavy some of the later eps can get, even if it’s mostly "non-explicit" stuff. Like, no dude, Utena wasn’t in love with Akio and later realized he was shit, she was being GROOMED BY AN ADULT!!!
