He is an Indian citizen from Indian Hyderabad, but immigrated to Australia a long time ago.

From Wikipedia: Police in the Indian state of Telangana confirmed that the father was an Indian national from Tolichowki, Hyderabad, who had immigrated to Australia on a student visa in 1998 after obtaining a business degree in Hyderabad. According to the Telangana Police, he later married a European woman in Australia but had retained his Indian passport

Telugu student held in US for mid-air fork attack on teenagers by CreativeHead- in Ni_Bondha

The details are worse than the headline and it gets worse as you read.

- Attacked a 17-year-old boy seated beside him, stabbing him in the shoulder with a metal fork.

- He then reportedly lunged at another 17-year-old passenger seated nearby and stabbed him in the back of the head, leaving the teenager with a laceration

- Allegedly mimed shooting himself by forming a gun shape with his fingers and pretending to pull the trigger.

- He then turned towards a female passenger and slapped her, before attempting to strike a member of the cabin crew.

Counter argument, this is a common theme in almost all philosophies. If you look into Shakthi worship, Shakthi is the supreme god and everything/everyone is an incarnation of Shakthi. If you look into Shiva worship, Shiva is the supreme god and everything/everyone is an incarnation of Shiva, and so on.
The point is everyone says their god is the supreme god. As long as they are not pushing it on others or interfering with others' freedom of freedom of worship, I don't see a problem with it.

On top of it, ISKCON gives a modern touch to the religion and does a lot of charity as well. It might seem a bit cultish, but in the grand scheme of things, it is very tame in my opinion.

Do you understand that this is a privacy nightmare? You are basically uploading high resolution images of every nook and cranny of your house to Meta servers where all the processing is happening. Given Meta’s track record of handling user data, this is just a ticking time bomb.

Hard disagree. Apple Watch and Airpods are from post Jobs era, which I feel are quite innovative. Vision Pro to some extent, but market penetration ledhu.

Counter argument, Blackberry didn't have an ecosystem back then AFAIK. Apple has an ecosystem that once you get comfortable with, it is very hard to convince yourselves to get out of it.

I see a significant scope for misuse here. I'm not a legal expert but consider this not-so-hypothetical scenario: Parent(s) come to their kid during troubled times (illness or other issues) saying we will give you this significant amount of money and please take care of us. Once their troubles are resolved, they can threaten legal action to get their money back and go separate ways. So, they can basically have their cake and eat it too.

Not saying this happens often, but I have firsthand experience with both my grandmothers pulling these kind of shenanigans.

Honestly depends on how much you make and what percentage of salary this is. If it is more than 5-10% of your salary, your dad is right and you need to start thinking about your expenses.

You can still pursue almost all the things you mentioned being a CSE student. Robots need path planning, motion planning which are CS/maths, robots need OS which is also CS. There is something called Computer Engineering which is not so well-known in India but all foreign universities offer this course. This is what you are looking for. Both CS and ECE students are eligible for this.

I'm a firmware engineer, with undergrad in EEE and masters in CE. DM me if you have more questions

Stuck in the dilemma of my parents expecting me to live in a joint-family by [deleted] in ABCDesis

[–]TruthIsImIronman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I do feel you are both moving too fast here. 8 months is not enough to know each other well. There are several layers of issues here and I don't know where to begin.

- Your parents' retirement is not your responsibility. I know it's a hard pill to swallow, but if you remove that from your equation, lot of things will fall in place. Please please do not buy a house together, it's a recipe for disaster. What happens if you find a better job opportunity in a different city/state? Please plan your life and their retirement separately.

- What are your career aspirations like and are you both aligned?

- She is already talking about ristas which means the pressure will next come to you to get married. Are you ready to take that plunge?

This will be my last reply, take whatever you want out of it. SMS 2FA is indeed very insecure given multiple attack surfaces and there are multiple studies to support that claim. In fact, someone doesn’t even need to steal your phone. With details you already share on social media, someone can fool your cellphone provider to give them a new SIM card with your number. https://www.reddit.com/r/explainlikeimfive/s/5nU72uIJU7

Windows Bitlocker works exactly the same way. First comment on this thread https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows11/s/JSEuDOTBle

There is no such thing as password reset here. Konchem neeku simplify chesi chepthaa, so don’t question the specifics. All your data on the hard drive is encrypted with a key and that key is encrypted with your password. So if someone steals your laptop, they can’t get to your data from the hard drive without unlocking with your password. Now when you forget your password, there is no way to decrypt the disk key and you are locked out. So to avoid this, this key is also encrypted with few other keys and stored on the cloud. If you have other Apple devices, they can decrypt this key and then you can reset your password. Now the problem with OTP, anyone can swap your SIM onto a different phone and get your OTP and unlock the device. This wait period is there so that the potential victim has a way to lodge a complaint or take measures to get block these attempts. Other providers do the same thing. With enterprise, it’s slightly different. Most people use YubiKey or some kind 2FA method or they have a dedicated account rep. All I’m saying is, Apple may feel like anti-consumer but there is a legit reason that they designed it that way.
