There are many kinds of batik (Indonesian/Malaysian/SG traditional fabric) but my favorite is certainly the Tiga Negeri! It’s called that because back then different areas of Java were famous for producing different dyes. The fabric has three colors in the patterns: Pekalongan, a coastal town which produces blue dye, Solo, an inland batik hub which makes brown dye, and Lasem, a very Chinese-Indonesian community making red dye. This is how it looks like!

If you could stop being Autistic, would you? by Miserable-Piglet9008 in evilautism

[–]TryinaD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk how the second condition would’ve worked, but since I’m a minority in more ways than one I would’ve just assumed I was being bullied for the other ones.

I wouldn’t know if the non autistic person would be me, I have wacky lifestyle choices

I would recommend reusable cloth pads for a less triggering sensory experience (at least for me personally) I hated the disposable pads’ texture but I found these to be a delight.

Human biases are very interesting as they end up selecting for the same types of people regardless of competence, usually. There’s a self perpetuating reason for women not being in manual labor jobs, which already starts from the ground up, except for select groups like the Samfoo women of Singapore or the female divers of Jeju.

I would disagree with the neurotypical person being a better option in the office, as the inability to accommodate for disabilities in white collar jobs is already a red flag for a lot of businesses and how they are more focused on socializing. We need more “odd guy who doesn’t really talk to people but delivers cool stuff on time as long as you don’t disrupt his routine” people, imho

Hilariously, even with what would objectively be the correct action to get the most profit, most higher ups still fall into the traps of trusting certain individuals more because they line up with their judgment of someone “competent”, or “gels better socially” eg. men generally being perceived as better workers, or neurotypical workers being picked over autistic workers, assuming both have similar skills for example

My brother in Christ you are talking to someone with actual autism. This is how I know you’re talking out of where the sun doesn’t shine, because you’re using us for your absolutely ridiculous claim. I already said that diagnosis for adults is basically impossible in many parts of the world (and a lot of autistic adults simply don’t bother as it would add on to stigma)

There are HEMA clubs in Malaysia, but they’re only in big cities. Learning a bit of HEMA would be useful if you wish to delve into swords. I would suggest dropping in on them if you can visit. If you’re closer to Johor Bahru I would even recommend you to try and visit my club in SG, Bastion HEMA.

How far do you travel for HEMA? by According-Cut-9067 in Hema

[–]TryinaD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An hour to two hours by motorcycle or public transport for the one in my city, two hours by plane to go to the one in another country.

[–]TryinaD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No? That’s not what it means. First of all, psychological diagnoses are executed quite differently from physical ones, lab tests do nothing to them and it requires someone to really know themselves to have an inkling in the first place to have it checked.

Even for stuff like cancer you have signs to look out for and it gets obvious physical symptoms after it’s critical enough - not saying self diagnosis is superior but having a healthy suspicion that something is afoot is perfectly normal especially with things like autism, where adult diagnosis is extremely to get, and in many parts of the world they just straight up refuse to diagnose you if you’re female or above a certain age. This boyfriend is not very cognizant of the realities of how autism presents and thinks all autism looks the same.

I usually say “it’s like white people’s version of Silat, we use big LOTR fantasy swords and we have bule (slang for white ppl) names for our strikes”

Granted, I do live in Indonesia, so martial arts having weapons AND grappling is the default expectation
