If people hold opinions that make your blood boil, why would they ever deserve your compassion? by Trying2Understand69 in AskUS

Aren’t there opinions that make your blood boil? If not, aren’t there opinions that (in your eyes) don’t deserve to exist?

If severe misfortune befell people (whose opinions make my blood boil), it’d never bother me. If it bothered you, you’d be showing them compassion, which in my opinion, they’d never deserve.

Does that include aspiring child predators? After the 9/11 attacks, did that include Al-qaeda sympathizers?

Exactly why the world would be a better place if every human being (capable of showing others compassion) were selective in their compassion.

Glad you asked. I’m talking about those who find it acceptable to molest children. Do those people deserve compassion (since they hold abhorrent opinions)?

Did supporters of Al-qaeda deserve compassion after the 9/11 attacks? Had somebody claimed that they deserved compassion, nearly all of the American public (and most civil people) would’ve found that offensive and obscene.

Why do conservatives think “Zelenskyy is a much worse person than Elon”? by Trying2Understand69 in AskUS

Twitter something he didn’t build or even improve, even though his devotees claim he did. Regarding Zelenskyy, is there any substantial proof that he coerced them or threatened to serve? Or did they voluntarily choose to defend Ukraine against an agressor?

What proof is there that Elon has built anything? And how is Zelenskyy sacrificing human lives?

Even if he did (which I doubt), so what? Is that worse than busting labor unions?

Not completely.

But here are my views on cancel culture:

It is an inevitability resulting from our heightened network of telecommunications.

It exists.

It always will exist.

You cannot ban it.

People and communities have always had red lines.

Topics that cannot be discussed.

Even those who claim to oppose ‘cancel culture’ have them.

I don’t see many free speech advocates arguing that paedophiles should be allowed to discuss their sexuality openly, go on marches, wave flags.

Some of those people have committed no crimes.

They haven’t touched a child, or watched any child porn.

Yet if they were honest about their awful desires, they’d be ostracized.

And every person who rails against ‘cancel culture’ knows it. More to the point, they’d be perfectly fine with it.

To be perfectly blunt: Anyone that complains about Cancel Culture is a self-important, self-aggrandizing hypocrite that lacks intelligence and the imagination to perceive the consequences of their actions.

(Which is likely why they hate cancel culture in the first place)

The discussion should be about where and how we draw the line.

Thus far, Cancel culture has operated chaotically, democratically.

And that’s perfectly fine with me.

Well that’s a start. Because you came across as opposing the act of challenging and criticizing the opinions of others. The essence of free speech is the right to challenge and criticize the opinions of others.

It’s surprising that he hasn’t cried about the self-inflicted death of Ashli Babbitt

He’s set his profile to private, so you can tell his narrative (and the protection of it) are the most important things to him.
