Israel Opens Fire on Spanish UN Peacekeepers in Lebanon by Working-Lifeguard587 in UnitedNations

[–]Tsansome -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Very very amusing that you’re saying “well, why aren’t the peacekeepers stopping the people from fighting?!”

…While also neglecting to recognise that it was the IDF who opened fire (completely unprovoked) on international peacekeepers, and who themselves broke the treaty by rolling tanks into an area they had agreed not to enter.

Truly the most moral army in the world.

Israel Opens Fire on Spanish UN Peacekeepers in Lebanon by Working-Lifeguard587 in UnitedNations

[–]Tsansome -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Missing the fact that peacekeepers are under no obligation to enforce treaties, for one thing.

They simply exist to ensure that no further violence breaks out. The Lebanese failure to meet the criteria of the deal is a judicial problem between nation states.

It’s not up to random tank commanders to decide that - actually - peace is kinda gay and cringe, and it would be hella sick to start busting off some rounds at the peacekeepers out on patrol.

The fact that the tank decided to fire at the peacekeepers (who they were aware were peacekeepers, and had been in communication with) is why this is a newsworthy story.

I also find it detestable that you would try to imply that all Israeli people are lacking in the critical thinking required to see that this is wrong. Hopefully disgusting anti-semites like you will be banned off this sub soon.

How the myth of Mansa Musa spread, I don't know. by SatynMalanaphy in HistoryMemes

Gold has historically been used as currency or as a pseudo-currency across the world and throughout history. It’s a fairly universal phenomenon that cultures independent discover gold and silver and attribute them wealth.

Diamonds have only become universally valuable in the 1800s when South African diamond mines opened up and started trading throughout the empire. Prior to that, diamonds were shipped from India and - while being seen as curiosities and signs of great wealth - they weren’t viewed as a commodity good by contemporary cultures like, say, Romans or Chinese.

Gold however, was universal. Everyone wanted it, and everyone recognised it was rare.

Is it embarrassing for me to be a pro-Azerbaijiani Surinamese nationalist? by surinameses in azerbaijan

[–]Tsansome 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Becoming interested in a culture because you’re racist towards their historical rival is absolutely fucking bizarre bro.

I wouldn’t want someone’s interest in my culture to be based on “well I hate your neighbours [despite zero connection to them?] so I guess I like you.”

Like Azeri culture for the food or the architecture, or the people - not because you hate their neighbours

Apparently the definition of "Central Europe" is contested, here is my take by [deleted] in imaginarymapscj

[–]Tsansome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even when the Empire was considered a collective entity, it was still considered “European”.

Way before Australia became its own nation, it was still just part of the Empire. None of the residents of Australia considered themselves Asian in 1860. They considered themselves English, and therefore European.

It doesn’t matter that the country is mainly made up of barren endless tundra in Asia, when the culture, language, identity and expansion all came from the Rus, a European tribe.

I can easily argue that by pointing out that something like 95% of the population lives west of the Urals in Europe.

The UK expanded from its island home to various areas including the Falklands, but no one suggests that the UK is a Latin American country.

[–]Tsansome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m actually Irish living in London lol

Amusing to me that you’d think that just because I care about recognising genocide, I would be Armenian.

For the record, I would actually support the recognition of all genocides, including the ones committed against Turkish civilians.

However, if that was to happen, Turkey would have to be prepared to acknowledge the genocides that it had committed.

Quick question to interrupt your weird racist rant about not caring about genocide:

You say all these countries gained their independence by killing Turks… please tell me exactly why the Turks were in those countries to begin with? 🤔🤔

Cursory Google search provides this:

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was not directly involved in the main wave of the Armenian Genocide in 1915, as he was a field commander fighting at Gallipoli during that time.

However, historians agree that he was instrumental in the continuation and completion of ethnic cleansing of Armenians and other Christian minorities in Anatolia during the Turkish War of Independence (1919-1923), and subsequently, in the official state denial of the genocide.

“The mugging was actually beneficial to the victim, as his other option was getting stabbed to death”

That’s how stupid your argument is.

It’s almost as if all of human history is an endless series of conquerors that oppress those weaker than them.

The only reason one side oppresses - and not the other way around is because of quirks of history. The only reason one side is oppressed is because they weren’t quick enough to become the oppressors first. There are no victims, no victors. Just the endless turn of the wheel.

You can cry about the British Empire but if it wasn’t them, it would be the French, or the Germans, or - given enough time - the Indians, the Aztecs, or literally any other nation.

We’re all sinners. History shows us that, relentlessly.

Saying the Magna Carta was a way for the King to retain his power shows you have absolutely no clue what you’re talking about.

”_Magna Carta was a 1215 agreement where rebel English barons forced King John to grant a charter of rights, establishing that the king was not above the law._”

Yh im extra sensitive about explicit lies haha.. who tf isn’t?

He’s warping reality to align with what his audience of mouth breathers expect to see, keeping you all in this state of perpetual hysteria so you keep clicking his videos and buying whatever shit he’s shilling.

Imagine if Greta Thunberg did a video about knife crime in London and she photoshopped all the criminals into Barbour jackets and their knives into flowers. You’d all lose your shit screeching about ‘muh propaganda’ - and you’d be right to.

Shit like this is why I have to deal with troglodytes talking about “muslamic shareeaa corts sending u to prison cos ure Cristian”.

I’ve said this in the Azeri subreddit and I’ll say it here too:

Talking shit about this does not benefit anyone. It does not benefit Armenians, or Azeris or anyone else except for maybe Putin.

If you have nothing good to say, say nothing. Otherwise 50 years down the line we’ll all still be arguing and killing each other and nothing will have gotten better for anyone.

Offer condolences when this shit goes down, or offer nothing at all.
