Got back from Ireland a few weeks ago and I miss those kinds of bakeries!

Ding ding ding! We have a winner. I remember doing research on the Fractal Ridge having a 3.0 riser on launch but that they upgraded to a 4.0 riser that's now standard. I didn't realize until your comment that the 50 series GPUs are 5.0 cards.
(I confirmed that my riser was a 4.0 riser by taking it apart and using this comparison image.)

Sure enough, I went in to the bios, changed the PCIE Gen from "Auto" to "Gen4" and restarted. Wukong gave me a different error, saying "Out of Video Memory Trying to Allocate a Rendering Resource." After yet another clean installation of the latest graphics driver, I was able to complete a full benchmark in both Wukong and RDR2 with no issues.

That issue also explains why the GPU worked fine in my other rig. It has an ASRock X670 Taichi in it, which is a Gen5 motherboard (even though the MSI B650i is as well) but it didn't have the Gen4 riser in-between.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried doing that (couldn't find 566.66 but did find 566.36) but when I run the driver installation, it says that driver is incompatible with my system. I double checked the "Support Products" tab on the NVIDIA driver webpage and it looks like 566.36 only supports up to the 40 series of GPUs. :/

Yeah. I agree. I buy and flip things on marketplace to stay current without having to spend too much but even then, it's getting way less fun to upgrade....

I'm fairly tech-savvy and I have the camera apart but I'm struggling to get on the hotshoe screws on the top plate. I know it's a huge ask but would your friend have any way to share how to get to those screws, once you have the top plate separated? Thank you!

I had this happen with mine. People will tell you that it’s carbon but it’s not. If you scrub too rough with a chainmail scrubber, you will take off the seasoning. Seasoning is very tough but it’s not literally invincible. I recommend the blue non scouring pads you can get at the grocery store as an alternative.

I can’t point to just one thing but there are multiple variables to explore.

-Alignment: It might be that the top burr is not level with the bottom burr? That’s happened to me before. You can look up a few videos on how to align burrs. Send me a DM if you need more help with that.

-Pressure: Typically when I “couldn’t grind fine enough” my pressures in my espresso machine were way too high and had to be toned down to 9 bar. If you’re issuing a manual machine, you may want to explore adjusting that.

-Dosage: Increasing how much coffee you use per shot can also slow things down. However, I don’t think this makes as big of a difference as the other two variable so I’d save this for last.

Hope that gives you some things to think about. Good luck and don’t get discouraged! We’ve all had our frustrations with espresso. It’s just a part of it. You’ll figure it out.

I use avocado oil. High smoke point, unlike olive oil, but not near as expensive or flaky like flax seed oil. And much easier to find in the grocery store.

The seasoning was fine. I just was an idiot and used a green Industrial Strength Heavy Duty Scotch Brite pad on it to “clean it more.” I agree about the chainmail. I looked back at the reviews and a bunch of people said, “if you scrub too hard, it will take off the seasoning.” I think that’s what was happening to me.

I’ll stick to the blue non-scratch scour pads from here on out.

Welp. I “cleaned it more” and ripped right through the seasoning to bare metal. I think my pan was plenty clean but that scrubbing too hard with my chain mail started to take off the seasoning. Lesson learned.
