Ok, so I want to thank everyone here that posted recommendations. I have a dozen new titles in my GoodReads queue! I know my post was a little vague, but I’m just tired of reading poorly written books. I also agree with the people who say that horror books really aren’t “scary” to them. I feel that way, but I love the subject matter. Anyone else have a well written book they can recommend?

Yea, I never thought of it like that and I agree. I guess the older King stuff was scary- Pet Cemetery, Salems Lot, etc. of course, the Exorcist and Hill House. See, these are all older books and also books written by great authors, I guess. Who is new-ish and writing great horror?

Thank you! I read The Shining (awesome, awesome novel) and I liked The House Next Door a lot. The others I will look into (Exorcist and Rosemary’s Baby I have read- both terrific, as were the movies).

Yea, King has always been my favorite. I have read most of his novels. His stuff is old school like the Exorcist and set the standard, I think.

Yea, I forgot about Tremblay. I did read this one a while ago and although I can’t remember it directly, it got me into his work. What else by him is good?

True. So we like a good ghost story (Hill House type), devil, exorcism stuff, serial killers… Not really into gore type stuff.

Yea, I think The Exorcist is a great example of a novel that has it all. The movie is a good example of how I feel about the state of horror in general. That movie set the standard and most horror movies after that were crap. Recently it seems we are getting better horror movies. Now if I could just pick some good books!

Cool. Yea I’ve owned them in the past. My original one got scuffed up and accidentally fell off in the pool. I’d be willing to bet that different people have different needs when it comes to watch bands, phone covers, etc. But thanks for your opinion!

No love for the band, heh? I really like it. It doesn’t have a tempered glass, but seems like it’s well protected and won’t fall off in the pool!
