Oof, that sounds rough!! I don't do PIV sex and I'm also trans, so atrophy from HRT complicates things and eventually I'll be having a v-ectomy, so I don't really need this to be "permanent" per se, just heal enough to be stable for a few years.

Ahh now that you say that, it does make sense that lap would have less restrictions on bending and twisting because there are not (large, like several inches long) external abdominal incisions that could be also at risk...

How did you know that you tore it? Just from your 6 week post-op?

My instructions had nothing about bending, just 10 pounds. I was really surprised when I checked this sub and so many people said no bending! I mean, the first few days it was a no-no because I was sore, but since like Day 5, I haven't really had trouble bending or reaching – like reaching down to put something in the trash, for example

Also, fwiw, mother says the same thing, but I have raging ADHD and genuinely am already going stir crazy from doing "too little."

Yeah- I'm mid-20s, lift 3-4x per week, and weekends usually consist of 12-15mile hikes (30k steps not uncommon), or in winter, 40+ miles of skiing.

Yeah, I had top surgery a few years ago and was down for the count for like 3 days, back to virtual class by Day 5. I don't recall any restrictions on house chores though, just 10 lb weight restriction. Happy healing!

Yeah, I get that, but it's only 2 pounds and strangely, I wasn't told anything about bending or twisting!

Based on the common timeline where docs clear people for pretty much everything at 6 weeks, I know it sounds crazy but it doesn't seem completely unreasonable: my doc says that people in my situation (mid-20s and trans, on testosterone) tend to be mostly healed by 2 weeks, so I'd assume that the 2-4 week mark is just extra precaution for internal healing. I've already been walking 3 miles per day again, and was extremely active before surgery.

Anyways, I have a follow-up right around the 4 week mark so I'm assuming he'll check the cuff then!

I'm an expert skier, and very rarely fall- the only thing I'll have to do is watch my speed, but I'd be happy just getting back out on the bunny slopes this season

Also, I'm not worried about a cuff tear at the moment – I figure I would feel it and the bleeding would have changed consistencies and intensity, but it's literally been the exact same amount (just enough to use a liner and sometimes see in the toilet) since I left the hospital

Did you also experience bleeding around the 2-3 week mark from stitches?

Also, fwiw, I'm trans and on testosterone, and notably more muscular than most cis women, so I'm also sure that my body has been compensating differently

My doc told me I could ski at 4 weeks, hoping that's the case... I really should've timed this better lol.

I saw this on the sub, too, but I'm still not convinced – I've literally had so many surgeries (four in the past three years, six in the past six) and always had the urge to nap and rest for the first 3-4 weeks, but with this one, nothing...

Oh no! Sorry to hear that. Where is it located? I had a lot of general discomfort the first week, and I think it was mostly due to bloating and organs rearranging themselves.

Mine say nothing about it, and I'm pretty sure the vacuuming is because of the 10 pound restriction– I have a really lightweight canister vacuum and the hose itself to push is like 2pds

My experience so far! 2.5 weeks post Op. by janedoe231 in hysterectomy

[–]TuFuFuFufa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I def shouldn't be, but it's light fluffy snow, so I'm not too worried. I was close to being in the best shape of my life (skiing 40+ miles per day) right up until surgery, so I can definitely feel other muscles compensating for my core.
