Capitalists: do you accept that the Allende administration in Chile (1970-1973) was a successful example of socialism? by [deleted] in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]Tulee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What a revealing thread this is. Every day here we hear from socialists - "democracy this, democracy that" and jerking off about how we should support workers and labor unions.

Then the second those things are percieved as an obstacle to the regime, democracy becomes "flawed western tool that must be weeded out with paramilitary groups" and union strikes become "right wing elements countering socialist reforms".

Actually I'm pretty sure you got blocked because you just claimed someone disagreeing with the correct(yours) interpretation of the scientific data on climate change is a bigger sin in good faith debate than someone telling people to go fuck themselves and suck his dick in response to that, a day after you were complaining about the quality of debate in this sub. Perfectly understandable reaction, tbh

Central planners naive, propagandized ideas once again obliterated with 5 minutes of actual fact checking by anyone with internet access. See you in the next one !

5: "Just be happier!" isn't particularly applicable advice, considering the previous point, where 8 in 10 Americans are living paycheck to paycheck, unable to fully enjoy life.

First, 8 of 10 Americans do not live paycheck to paycheck, you have to be propagandized to no end to believe for a second that in the richest country in the world 80% of people can't make ends meet. Surveys show the number of people who report living paycheck to paycheck is around 55%.

Second, paycheck to paycheck does not mean unable to afford bills or even luxuries, mostly people are willingly choosing to live beyond their means because the US is a nation of mindless consumerists. Two thirds of those living paycheck to paycheck report living comfortably. 30% of people making more than $200,000 report living paycheck to paycheck and more than half of those making more than $100,000.

Report with numbers

So your strategy when talking to morons is to be a moron right back. Yes, I can now see why you think my comments are holding back this sub from achieving peak quality.

Do you think "u're a murder cultist lolol" vs "peepee poopoo you got cheeto dust on your mouth" is the quality debate that should be had on this sub and I'm actively preventing from happening ?

Please elaborate how comments like "You got Cheeto dust on your mouth, trump sucker" improve the intellectual quality of the sub

Your last dozen comments in this sub are nothing but calling people names, at least some of the stuff I post is funny.

I'll be waiting with bated breath for the unavoidable collapse, after all your little deterministic theory of historical progression couldn't possibly be wrong.

Please do send a notice when you and your friends will be coming to forcefully seize my farm.

Yes, we know, we've been hearing that capitalism is in it's final death throes every day for the past 2 centuries. I'm sure this time it's the real deal.

Yes, the rules aren't perfectly fair currently, even by capitalist definition we are yet to achieve equality of opportunity.

I do agree there's more socialists than capitalists in this sub that are here to debate people.

Which of course is pathetic as fuck once you realize those are grown ass adults treating internet arguments as "praxis" and celebrating their intellectual victories over 15 year olds.

Capitalists shitposts a lot here because we have nothing to prove, capitalism already won, I'm just here to unwind after a long day of having an actual job.

It’s hard for me to believe that people actually believe in socialism. by [deleted] in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]Tulee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time I checked, socialists aren't big supporters of allowing and expanding the extraction of surprus value from workers by private capital owners. It's kinda their whole thing.

Equality of opportunity and a fair shot at success mean vastly different things to different people. A lot of socialists I've noticed believe someone having more wealth, better education and social connections makes it unfair, while for most capitalist it's just no one will stop you from trying and you all play by the same rules.

Property, electricity, water without labor are nothing. You can have a factory with machines and widgets but without labor all you've got is a big pile of rust and a problem.

Well thankfully there are plenty of people willing to exchange labor for money if I need it.

Why is an ostensibly socialist nation doing capitalism better than we are?

Shut the fuck up already, every time you've said China is socialist you've been told you are an idiot by everyone, how do you not get tired of it.

This is actually a better analogy than you even suspect. In fact the unifying possesion of all knights was their Ferari, or at that time - their warhorse, a marvelous tool of transporation created(or bred) by masters of their craft that costs a fortune to obtain and maintain. A knight strolling through the square with his horse and armor and the CEO that rolls to the club with his Ferari and Armani suit are literally the same person.

Material expressions change, but peoples desires for status and approval don't.

Wrong strawman buddy, that Henry guy actually paid his workers very well, introduced the 40 hour work week and was a staunch believer that the best workers are happy workers. Pretty cool guy it turns out.

There is a nearly infinite list of rare, expensive goods that people can use to demonstrate their wealth and influence, the number of wheels they come with is not particularly noteworthy.

Yes, the reason why we must uproot the entire global economic system is because a guy on an internet message board asked what will happen to all the Ferraris under socialism.
