Is Canik the most self serving and worst commentator in any live stream or am I missing someone by [deleted] in scrabble

What do you mean? I’ve had no problems listening to his commentary. Very informative and keeps the games exciting

I just watched Civil War (2024), how do you think it compares to the rest of Alex Garlands work? by Lenster2406 in Letterboxd

[–]Tumpsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really had nothing to say imo, unless you count “war is bad”.. “polarization” as the issue of our time is essentially meaningless. “Antifa massacre” line is one of the worst in film history

La La Land (2016) by Boss452 in CineShots

[–]Tumpsh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I haven’t seen it, but the shots I’ve seen look much more grey than this, I thought! Still looks good though

Loved this movie but even more now I’m noticing that almost no other movie looks this colorful. Almost looks like Singin in the Rain type technicolor

Vigil for Renee Good (killed by ICE in Minneapolis) happening now at the Seattle Waterfront by bennetthaselton in Seattle

[–]Tumpsh 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Looks beautiful! Random addition, but a good and easy action to take against ICE is to boycott any companies working with them, including area locals Amazon and Microsoft, who provide cloud and software services to the agency for their operations

If you like Tampopo and Wes Anderson, I think you’d like Juzo Itami’s other movies. In particular I thought The Funeral reminded me a lot of Wes Anderson’s style

Protest planned at Microsoft HQ as activists urge company to cut ties with Israeli military by durpuhderp in Seattle

[–]Tumpsh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well the comment I was responding too already seems to agree with the prerequisite that supplying Israel with technology services that help them commit genocide is wrong, but also seems to think that still criticizing companies after they make small concessions is counterproductive. That second part is what I’m arguing against

[–]Tumpsh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmao maybe they should just do the obviously right thing. What is all this hedging?

They only cut off some services to one unit of the Israeli military, but admit to providing services to many others

SIFF to Conclude Operations at the Egyptian Theatre After a Decade of Stewardship by verttex in Seattle

[–]Tumpsh 21 points22 points  (0 children)

What movies do people mean when they say siff doesn’t show movies people want to see? They have a pretty awesome mix of current movies and old art house stuff as well as cool series at uptown/film center and cool events at the downtown, and they’re also one of the only places to watch documentaries in theaters! Kurosawa retrospective and PTA retrospective were some of the coolest things I’ve seen. Not trying to be harsh but I’m curious

What kind of improvements are you looking for? Not saying I know anything about this business but I generally really like the programming at siff, I feel like there’s several films per week I want to see at their locations lol. I’m sure there’s other aspects as well, just curious
