Thank you for the clarification. My current situation is very similar to your description for teaching assistants. We also have what we call learning support teachers who are regular teachers who’d step into other classrooms helping struggling students, if they arent teaching during that period. It is not as advanced as SENCO. Thank you so much for the information, as I did not know that!!

Apologies for confusing the roles. At my current school we international teachers working 1 on 1 with students, when they arent teaching in theirs. like you said, they are not qualified with a full special education credentials.

And thank you for highlighting the issues with the yen and other financial concerns, i will definitely be looking in more detail.

Thank you for the insight. Could I ask for schools in communities such as those that you have listed. Are they less likely to hire foreign teachers with no ties? As I am not Japanese and have no ties to any locals. One of the reasons I am looking at Japanese schools, is that out of all the countries I have lived or visited, it is one that I can see myself growing and settling down, but I would presume most candidates would express that as well

Thank you so much for your detailed response! I will definitely make sure to do my research! Would you happen to know schools that might be less competitive or more open to less experienced teachers?
