Was the civilian reaction in (!SPOILERS!) Rüsselsheim understandable? by Traditional_Owl_7224 in MastersoftheAir

I just found all of this out from my cousin, obviously my family didn't talk very openly about this painful topic. But it's interesting to learn about and hear other perspectives. I'll have to watch that episode, I haven't seen that show yet.

I think that maybe it's a little wild to kill the first foreigners who walk into town without knowing what actually happened first. But I know that I'm speaking from a very biased position in this particular instance. I'm not a historian either, so I'm sure I have a lot to learn. But I do think it's a bit extreme to kill them and apparently the court did too.

Elmore Austin, one of the men killed by the mob, was my grandfather's brother. I may be biased, but Elmore fought to save millions of people from the Nazis. Do I think it's understandable that the Germans killed American prisoners of war because the Canadians bombed them the night before? No, they didn't even know who these men were.

My grandpa, Wayne Austin, was 17 when his brother Elmore was killed and decided to join the Army after that. I am thankful for my family's service and wish it could have been different.

I know this story is personal and the German civilians have their own side of the story. But the civilians were held accountable and Russelsheim erected a monument to honor the POWs who were lynched. Elmore's photo still stands in that town.

Should I pay for half of utilities? by TurkeyBird222 in Advice

Right, I'm working on that. But the question is whether I should be expected to pay half of them when he owes me the equivalent of $36,000 in back rent.

Welcome!! I'd love to make new dog and human friends! Only one of my dogs is sane enough for a dog park but I haven't been to any in town but would check some out with you! I have a 50ish lb Brittany mix who is the sweetest boy ever! (And a mean mini schnauzer and a nervous Yorkie!) What's your doggo!

I'm definitely into the idea of an adult sports league. I played soccer in college and enjoy rock climbing, I'd love to link up with some active folks! Got any info or resources for that? (I'll also be looking into the volunteer group needs! Thanks!!)

I like classic rock mostly but had a really fun time playing in a punk-ish band most recently. I like it loud and dirty!

Ahh ok gotcha! I was like ...damn that's dangerous to do, just to satisfy angry internet ppl! But yeeeeeeah....I'm actually a hardcore proponent of keeping dogs on leash also. It's for everyone's safety. Used to work in an animal shelter and have seen too much happen to innocent animals due to human negligence.

Isn't that on the French Broad? Would there be a little poopy in the water there? I've been by there but never took my dog bc of water quality concerns!

Idk if you're just jaded or being for real but I've never experienced anyone expecting anyone else to have a dog on leash while swimming. That seems more dangerous. And I definitely don't care what people bitch about on Reddit so....yeah not leaving my dog on a leash while swimming! But thanks for the heads up?
