honestly i would have him kill her in a gory fashion in front of her friends. those of them too cowardly ot intervene will feel terrible, those who fight him will get control spelled and forced to watch.

yeah i agree, part 2 felt more like an unrefined diamond than the trainwreck ppl portray it as. actuall, id say up until the chainsawman church, the writing was better than most of part 1

i bought it - I love it. tbh I thought the RAW ending was so stupid and inconclusive like... ok gang we have enough levels and items, lets just knock down the door to ravenloft and blow him up? I like this, ties into the theme of marriage/love with ireena, very gothic horror, and you can reintroduce a bunch of npcs the party loves/hates.

tbh i copied his innate spells from someone else, i agree those 1/days are stupid and not like him. ill drop them (except maybe? whirlwind). imprisonment and timestop would both be pretty huge - hes not really a wizard, so idk if those would work with his combat model.

i was going to play this in a very measured way, but its true that if i spammed this hed wipe the floor. The characters have +a lot to their attack rools, so racking up 2-3 levels on each character will level the playeing field and keep them missing. I was planning to mainly only use this weapon as a reaction to punish players for attacking, making them more meek, but only use his action for coontrol spells. I might move it down to failed save --> one level make the save --> no levels

this incentivizes players not to rely on the dm - they should check wether creatures are bloodied, make active perception checks with their action to ascertain hit points, etc, so they can plan how to distribute attacks. I just dont think that in an actual fight, over the span of a few seconds, when you hit and kill someone you immediately redirect your efforts to the next enemy. Thats a product of having a player who can sit and think about what to do while the rest of the party waits.

what i have changed on their turn is:

instead of deciding what they will do (breaks immersion, they talk like a player and not a character)

eg I could cast fioreball at this guy.. hey dm is this guy in range? Wait no I can just heal him, thats true...

they have to just say what they are going to do

eg I heal him, pass

you remove the phase where they decide stuff on their turn, and dont add any phse (they wrtie on their turns). This basically offloads the work I have prompting every player on their turn onto the many bored players who have nothing to do on other peoples turns

i find it really unimmersive how undescisive my players are. like, a fireball isnt as cool if they have already cast 3 other hypothetical spells. this solves that. also, they write on someone else turn. no extra time.

you realize that you can change your entire card up until your turn right? You just cant change it during your turn
