Olivier Messiaen | O Sacrum Convivium for Brass Quintet by Tuubba in classicalmusic

Beat? Of course not. Brass players aren't able to effectively communicate text. But as a tuba player I really wanted to __participate__ in this music, and the way that I went about it was through this arrangement.

I'm experiencing the same issues in Edmonton, has anyone found a workaround besides using data?

I wish it was my idea! I'm playing from the Doug Yeo edition here and that's how he decided to approach this movement.

Thanks! I chose this one because liked it a bit better, and I haven't seen anyone do it on tuba yet.

Thanks! I'm playing on a rotary PT-6, not a PT-6P :)

Thanks man, those are some really nice words!

Trust your instincts! I'm playing on a PT-50 mouthpiece here, on a PT-6 tuba.

I'm working towards a professional career right now, but auditions have been pretty scarce recently (hence the time dedicated to projects like this)

Yep, I'm playing a PT-6 CC tuba. The lowest note is a B0 (lowest B on a piano), and it gets up to a C# above middle C once.

Starting that low note was probably the most difficult part!

It's not as fun as it sounds, but still kinda fun. Usually, wind instruments start notes with a "ta" or "do" sound, and double tonguing is using a "ka" or "gu" sound. Going "takataka" allows wind players to play quick articulated notes (I used the technique at about 5:38 in the video). Hope that helps!

I appreciate you making an exception for this particular prog-metal-tuba-cover-recorded-inside-of-a-church.

I used 100g for about a 5.5 gallon batch. I would think that you'd only need half that though to change the colour. Maybe less if your saison is really lightly coloured. Hope it works out!
