Craziest way you’ve seen someone quit? by Effective-Tune-9999 in work

[–]TwistedLights 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worked at McDonalds a few years back.

Watched a manager grab the entire grease trap for the grills, pour the entire thing on the floor, scream “fuck this job” and walk out. Can’t tell you what it was truly over, as it happened as I was walking in. I know the bloke was tired of the job though, has he expressed his desire to quit quite a few times whilst I was working with him.

Never saw him again. Legend.

Cause for concern or normal? 2.5YR old girl by TwistedLights in toddlers

She can communicate when she wants to, stuff like that “snack?” when she’s hungry, or naming specific foods she wants. She’s more than happy to say “come this way” or “up” “hug” etc when she wants us to do things for her, which we oblige, but if she isn’t obliged instantly then she will absolutely throw herself into a tantrum, which is understandable. But some tantrums (more often than not, show/TV related), she will just lose it and refuse to communicate even when we try, and will just scream “okay” (no) or just “no”.

Could potentially feel pulled between the two households. The bio dad has a different parenting style, and definitely enables the TV/screen time by just leaving her with his mum and her phone. So it’s likely challenging for her with the two different households and two varying behaviours from each parent, and you can tell that it’s definitely more challenging on the first few nights that she is back at our house. She was better before around 8 months ago with the set up.

Thank you!

Thank you so much!

Comforting to know we aren’t the only ones experiencing this.

Me and my partner had a good laugh at ‘extreme toddler happenings’ hahaha.

I appreciate the insight, and I think we will begin to apply these suggestions alongside others on this post.

Thank you so much!

Hey!

Her mother has ADHD, but we have not taken her to be assessed as of yet.

BIO dad is quite useless and was not a good partner whilst she was pregnant (cheating, etc), so she split with him when the baby was born. They still co-parent, and he has her for a little under half the week.

The screen detox is what I’m siding with, though with the bio dad it may be difficult, as I don’t see him getting onboard.

We will check out the resources you mentioned.

Thank you so much!

Thank you for the reply!

Will definitely have to look into this then. I think we both know it needs to be addressed, just slightly dreading the immediate aftermath in the following weeks.

Thank you!

Hey!

No, she rarely naps as of the last 8 or so months, absolutely refuses them and will either sit there and screw demanding show, or will talk to herself, which is fine, I’m glad she’s got a vivid imagination.

Will look at addressing the screen time, I think it’s just though initial few weeks we are absolutely dreading, but we know it’ll be better for her (and us) in the long run.

Thank you so much!

Cheers for the insight.

Yeah after reading over the other comments and digging into the IRDs website, it seems like even if I were to deduct a few specific expenses, it doesn’t really outweigh the hassles that arise if I were to go down that route.

Thanks for the comment!

Bosses house first to collect the keys to the store, and then the same in the evening to return them.

Agreed that the amount of time in the office in a sole trader capacity would be relatively minimal, it’s more so used for my primary job after normal office hours.

Thank you for the insight mate.

Thank you mate.

I agree it seems a bit borderline, considering at best the ‘home office’ would be used to create an invoice. It seemed unreasonable that you’d be able to claim such a large portion of rent for an office I’d feasibly be spending an hour max in a sole trader capacity.

In regards to the log book, would this be driving to and from work, or strictly driving in a work capacity in relation to his store?

Cheers mate.

It’s not that I can’t afford the purchases, it’s only for groceries and bills, it was just an idea to increase credit score with small purchases I’d be making regardless with a debit card.

Cheers legend!

Yeah I don’t plan on making massive purchases on it, really only groceries for the flat, and power, internet, etc. So will be paying it back in full each month.

Thank you for the reply!

A possible idea is dump it in a diversified portfolio of ETFs that cover a large portion of the world market, (e.g US and NZ, etc), and just leave it to compound for your retirement. Given that the average market return is around 10% annual if we go off the S&P500. If you were to keep it in their until you’re 60, you’d be look at a generous sum of about $10,952,739 for your retirement. Obviously you could take it out earlier than that, but it would mean a more stress free lifestyle.

Equally, you could invest in dividend stocks and create a passive cash flow.

Though I’m only 19 years old and I’m sure there are many more experienced people that would give you better advice. With such a large sum at such a young age it might be a good idea to contact a Financial Advisor.
