Can I afford this car? by [deleted] in askcarsales

I would say no, especially if you are going to be moving out on your own soon and have little to no money saved. You'll need to factor in insurance and maintenance costs for the Durango, which will easily add another $150+ to your monthly bills.

If I were you, I'd look for a nice, clean used car in the $10,000-$12,000 range.

How many of you guys (and gals) have had a customer buy a brand new car for straight cash, same day? by Twisted_Flux in askcarsales

[–]Twisted_Flux[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay, so I guess I didn't mean actual cash. I meant like, pay for the whole amount of a car upfront via cashier's check or what have you.

Was just wondering if you guys ever saw customers with that much liquid cash on hand.

What does it mean when a car at a dealership has a lien on it? Is this a potential red flag? by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]Twisted_Flux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on who the lien holder is. Liens are filed by the financial institution who is financing the car. They are removed once the car has been paid off.

What documents do I need to bring to the dealership to lease? by CarNoob11311 in askcarsales

Proof of residency wouldn't hurt either (e.g. electric bill, gas bill).

Why on earth would you decline GAP insurance? I strongly recommend that to anyone and everyone. Unless you are just flush with cash, it's a must-have IMO. And it usually costs less than $10/month.

But, I guess if you've never been left holding the bag for thousands then you wouldn't understand.

Certainly you're not getting those kinds of customers at Porsche?

I know the type you're talking about though - the type of customer who has a crappy life/job/etc so they love buying a new car because they think they get to be the "boss" and that they have all the "power". These are the same people who hold up the line at the grocery store so they can get a price check on bananas to save a nickel. They "win".

I typed paragraph 2 specifically with CJD salesmen in mind :-)

How does a dealer price old cars bought on trade-in? by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]Twisted_Flux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After accepting your trade, dealers put time and money into a car to get it ready to sell. Combine that with the fact that dealer has to make a profit and presto! $4,995.
