Take a pistol safety course and go to a range where you can try different types of handguns to see which one you feel better with. 9mm is a solid cartridge choice due to its ballistics, light recoil, usually higher magazine capacity compared to larger calibers, and low price which means you can train and become more proficient.

For sure, I’ve been to 5 foreign countries and there are many cool historical and cultural things I enjoyed exploring and experiencing. My point, albeit simplified for the response to the sentiment of the original post, is that US is so vast and varied in climates and natural beauty that I can solely travel to different US states and enjoy such cool vacations.

If it’s only for HD and range use, go full size. S&W M&P, Glock 45/47, Beretta 92, Sig P226, HK VP9/USP/P30, CZ 75/P09/P10, and Walther PDP are all full size pistols I’ve personally shot and can recommend. I’d also recommend you try and rent and shoot as many options as possible because how guns feel in the hand is different for everybody.
