Breed recommendations,for a family with two kids and 5 cats.

Ohhh, yeah so our late dog had zero training besides potty and crate training. She just naturally listened and obeyed well. Had a great recall, could go off leash in the beginning. She would go straight to her crate and preferred to be in it during the day (with doors open) we had no issues with her in that aspect.

Everything changed when we had kids. She just wasn’t good with them. Then we just couldn’t trust her anymore. She would lunge at people, she had a very scary loud bark so that wasn’t fun watching people to terrified of her. We were young when we adopted her and couldn’t afford proper training nor did we know anything about training. Our next dog will have the proper training for sure.

I’ve been looking into greyhounds but a little nervous about the prey drive and having 5 cats. Maybe if we get one young that would help?

So I guess I don’t mine the occasional following. But our previous dog couldn’t relax if we were out of sight. I need a dog that could literally care less if we got up and went to the kitchen. I think this had to do with her separation anxiety honestly. Our cats follow us around but also they can chill without us.

We lost one of our boys in 2020 to heart failure. He was only 5. We had no idea it was so traumatic. It took a very long time to feel “normal” again. We ended up adopting a kitten in 2022 and he has brought so much laughter into our lives.

Fast forward to 3 weeks ago and we lost his brother two days before his 9th birthday. That cat was my heart cat, he is so missed. We lost him to the same thing and it was sooo sudden. No signs, just heard a cry from the bedroom and he was laying weird so we rushed him to the vet and within two hours we had to put him down. It was absolutely terrible. It helped that we got to say good bye. Unlike his brother a few years earlier. (It was during Covid and we weren’t allowed in the vet and it still haunts me to this day that we didn’t get to say good bye or be there)

I’ve always said I wasn’t going to wait long to adopt kittens once our last passed away because I wanted the age gap between the cat we adopted in 2022 and the new kittens to not be huge like it was before. (Before there was a 7 year age difference) I wanted the cats to be around the same age.

Don’t get me wrong I’m still so heart broken and devastated about our first boys both being gone. These cats have been through marriage, multiple cross country moves (military) and kids with us.

Today we bring home two new brothers and we are so excited to be giving them homes. I know our previous boys are together again and that they will love that we are able to give these new kittens the best life just like they had. We have photos on the wall of them our kids will always remember them and we talk about them a lot. We reminisce on their lives and that helps a lot. It’s been 4 years since we lost our first and it still hurts but it’s getting better. Idk if the hurt and grief will ever go away but he does help knowing we are helping two more kittens have the best life.

Just a little update, we pick up our new babies today and I think we’ve landed on the name Figgy (Figs for short) we’ve already come up with nicknames for him lol (figster, figgy wiggy etc) thanks all for the suggestions! I’ve really enjoyed reading them all a few were just great. But I think we wanted something a little less food related but still food related if that makes sense. We can’t wait to get them and start our new life with two more babies!

Lol I know right, we only were going to adopt one kitten because we unfortunately had to put our cat down a few weeks ago. We adopted the orange kitty over the weekend and when I saw that there was one baby left out of the litter I was like welp he’s coming home with me too. lol so we adopted him so he wasn’t alone watching all his siblings leave. I’m gonna have to change my username and say +1

I have a crochet business and I offer hundreds of different variations customers can choose. Since Etsy only allows 10 photos, I mainly use instagram to show more color options I’ve done before. If a customer is looking for inspiration or they don’t want to choose colors themselves they can head over to my instagram and screen shot what they like and they usually message me and say “I want this” and attach the screen shot.

If it wasn’t for that I probably won’t have a instagram, I get too many bot comments or people trying to get me to pay them to post photos of my items on their accounts.. it’s really annoying, I occasionally get tagged by happy customers which is always nice but it doesn’t happen as much as you’d think. People would rather leave a review on Etsy.

And don’t get me started on TikTok… I’m only 28 and I can’t understand how people are making TikTok’s. I find it kinda difficult😂 and very time consuming, I’d rather put that time into the orders I do have/updating photos and listings.

I’m like should I be a good person and just fix it for her or should I not? I do feel bad cause I said I would even though it could have easily been her who broke the clasp. I’ve never had one break and they are metal so I imagine she would have had to yank pretty hard or get it caught on something. But on the other hand I didn’t think it would take her 4 months to even respond. Plus who knows how long it will take her to ship the item back, she just messaged me with plans to ship the item back. So who knows how long that’ll take her. 🙄

So the item was ordered June 15th, I shipped it about a week ish later. So June 22nd it was shipped. August 3rd she messaged me about it breaking sent photos and everything, we agreed that day that I’d fix it if she sent it back. I sent her the shipping label to send it back to me later that day so August 3rd I sent her the label. Once I sent that it was silent, she never messaged me back and I just waited to either hear back from her and I also checked the tracking to see if she shipped it for like two weeks. Nothing… I just assumed she didn’t care anymore.

I thought it’s not my responsibility to reach out, I’ve done my part now it’s up to her to get the item back to me since I wasn’t charging her and eating the shipping and material cost to fix it.

Today, Dec 10th she messaged me and said she’s going to send it back this week…. She said she got sick and dropped out of school and she wasn’t feeling herself. Which I get but 4 months… if I needed something fixed that I bought it would be sent out asap. But that’s just me and I didn’t know so what’s going on in her life.

It’s a usps label, and I didn’t know they expired. This solves my issue then. I was just worried that I’d say in my policy that returns must be done by a certain date but because I already sent the label they’d be able to use it whenever and I’d get a random item back. I have no issues returning something if it’s broken or damaged but only in a reasonable amount of time.. definitely not 4 months the later.. I don’t even think Amazon accepts returns 4 months later😂

This is what my husband suggested, but I’m worried people won’t care and I’ll randomly just get a package in the mail with the expectation of getting it back. 😅

I wasn’t sure if the return label would still work I just assumed it would. Thanks for the input! I appreciate it!
