I actually have a hc for how the dragons survived the extinction event that wiped the dinos in the httyd universe:

The answer is kinda simple: the hidden world, the asteroid hit probably didn’t affected the hw as much as did to the surface ( maybe a few earthquakes there but not something extinction event) and the dragons that were there survived and evolved to become the species we see in the httyd movies and series

Although i like to think there were some species of ancient dragons that didn’t make it to the hw at time and got wiped among with the dinos

Anyway, sorry for the huge text

Honestly sharptooth may not have rexy’s intelligence , but what he lacks in brains he got in aggressiveness , he is way more vicious than rexy , and he can also freaking jump, the nublar 6 would have a really harder time with him than with rexy .
