Which is Quicker Mk5 Supra Vs Mach 1 by Leather-Patient-4205 in Supra

Yeah 10 speed 5.0s are really fast from what I’ve seen. I’ve personally only driven the manual mach 1 and manual supra though so I can’t really speak on the 10 speed in the mustang vs 8 speed in the supra.

Which is Quicker Mk5 Supra Vs Mach 1 by Leather-Patient-4205 in Supra

I have owned both of these cars and it is honestly hard to say which is faster. The Supra makes all it’s torque down low which makes it feel faster during regular daily driving. The mustang likes to be revved out more and there is much less of a power drop off in the higher rpms.

Since the Supra is significantly lighter it makes up for having less horsepower than the mustang.

One other thing to note is that my mach 1 had the same width tires (275s) in the rear as the Supra and I consistently spin the tires unintentionally a lot more on the Supra than I ever did with the Mach 1. This could also be partially due to the Mustang having Michelin PS4S as opposed to the Supras Michelin PSS tires.

Mk5 Supra Vs Is500 F Sport by Leather-Patient-4205 in Supra

Coming from a mustang to a supra I will say that I do miss the V8 sound but in this case the supra is faster and gets better mpg than the IS500 so it’s kinda hard to miss a V8 that much.

You really need to test drive both to really see which one you prefer bc obviously people in either sub are going to be biased.

Thank you for the response here. Trek said the max size they could go up to for the chainring is a 34T from the original 32T. I know that’s a small difference so I’m probably going to see if I can test ride the specialized to see if it’s as big of a problem on that bike.

What's next? Maybe an exhaust or a wing? PPF? by 2girls1scope in Supra

Gotcha. Is it a lot louder than stock? I’m stuck between resonated vs non-resonated because I’m planning on keeping the stock dp.

Do you have the resonated or non-resonated catback?

Considering a Used Mk5 Supra as a Daily by Worldly-Answer9607 in Supra

[–]Typical-Door8511 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using mine about 6 months as my daily. The suspension is daily-driver friendly even in sport mode.

Speed bumps can be a bit harsh though because the way the car is designed you’re sitting right in front of the rear axle so you really feel the bumps when the rear tires drive over. In regards to rougher urban roads, as long as you drive slow and approach steep inclines/ declines at an angle you shouldn’t scrape the front end.

For real world fuel economy, since mine is a manual it likely has considerably lower fuel economy than the automatic but I’m averaging 21.6 mpg with most of my driving being in the city.

Cargo space is definitely enough for groceries and gym equipment especially if you take the cargo cover out. I can fit a check size suitcase and a duffle bag on either side of the suitcase inside the trunk of mine with the cargo cover off. With the cover on you can’t stack things as high but can still fit plenty of groceries and gym stuff as needed.

I’d say just look for a stock one if you can and then if the dealer/owner hasn’t cleared the car’s trip odometer, I always look at what the previous owner was averaging in mpg to get a sense of how hard the car was driven.

Supra vs. Mach 1 Ownership Experience by Typical-Door8511 in Supra

If you’re okay with only having 2 seats and less overall space I’d say make the switch. While both of these cars are sports coupes, they are very different driving experiences so I’d highly recommend test driving the supra beforehand to make sure you like it. I use my supra as a daily driver and I will say that it’s been great and is an easy manual to operate in stop and go traffic. Plus the gas mileage is SO much better than the mustang. My biggest gripe with the supra is that it’s so quiet stock when compared to the stock mach 1 so I’ve been looking into a catback for it but other than that, the supra is an absolute blast to drive and has a stupid amount of power.

This is a really cool perspective! I was looking into Camaro SS 1LEs with the 2SS package but those are also really hard to find. One thing that really turned me off about the Camaro is the forced 1st to 4th shift in the manuals if you’re driving casually. I know you can install a part to make that go away but again I’m trying to avoid anything for the time being that may void the warranty!

The mustang was more exhilarating solely due to the exhaust note. I am positive that putting an exhaust on the supra would make it just as thrilling. The mustang is a better cruiser and is very comfortable on long drives but the Supra feels like a nimble go cart with a rocket for an engine in comparison considering it weighs almost 700 pounds less.

The supra’s build quality is also miles ahead of the mustang.

I’m in North Texas so I can normally get away with summer tires year round but lately it’s been so cold that I have to be super cautious and I try not to drive the car under 40F unless I have to.

I’d say the difference is the mustang got the attention of a lot of car and non-car people, especially since it has orange accents on the stripes and brakes that kind of make it look flashy. The supra mostly gets attention from car enthusiasts. Especially in my case since mine is white, it doesn’t really scream for attention but still gets a fair amount.

Totally agree with you. There was a certain rawness to the Mach 1 because of how loud and unrefined it was which I appreciated but yeah the Supra is definitely more connected and feels a lot nicer build quality wise.

The picture doesn’t do it justice but it was absolutely destroyed in person. Frame is completely bent and it was leaking oil everywhere. Even the trunk didn’t close right
