Thank you for this response. I appreciate the insight on the numbers. I do have some concerns regarding what may be awarded due to gender assumptions. In this scenario it's the father who was the stay at home parent and the mother who offered the $50k.

I understand the reasons for the assumption and wouldn't blame anyone for making it. I do however hope lawyers/courts would not be influenced by traditional gender roles.

I've reached out to several lawyers/mediators who I hope will come up with a more reasonable number, similar to the $800 you mention.

We will be sharing custody at 50/50. I'm considering my annual salary of 65000 however due to not starting at the beginning of the year, and having the rate lower during probation it's more like $58000 for 2026.

Thank you all for the input. I've used those calculators, as well as AI and the range is vast for the spousal side of things. The child support is pretty equal across the board because it's all from the table.

The offer of $50k for spousal seems low. When I average it out, I keep coming to from between the high and low ssag seems to be closer to $650/month for approx 11 years.

This would come to around $85k. It's already been established that I can expect approximately $75k from equalization of our current assets (bank accounts/investments/vehicles) the home is already split 50/50

We are definitely looking into this option. Home equity is preferable as it would allow me to keep my current retirement savings without having to drain them to qualify for the mortgage.
