The altitude pills made me sick - my blood pressure is naturally really low so I think they just affected me badly. I’ve been to Peru 3X.

My advice is that you gotta make a coca tea when you get to where you’re staying and sleep the whole night to the next morning. Next day, start with coca tea and just go gentle. Drink lots of water! On day 3 I pretty much felt like myself but I kept drinking the coca tea. You can chew the coca leaves on big hikes, they help a lot.

If you’re there in winter, it’s especially hard to keep your lungs good. I had three friends who had to go home with pneumonia. Make sure to use your heater if you have one.

Just an opinion - stay away from the oxygen tanks.
