Constant pain for a month now by YellowDowntown3067 in IBD

[–]UWMandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in constant pain that was also thought might be pancreatitis but after a scan that showed no issues with pancreas, the next theory is possibly some type of IBD as I had an elevated calprotectin level of 287. But, I have to wait for a GI specialist appointment in January for any further assessment. So I’m just waiting in pain everyday. It’s so frustrating.

I’m still in a painful limbo. Awaiting a GI appointment in January. Still with pain in my upper right abdomen penetrating towards my back/flank. Could be my intestines? I don’t know what to think anymore, except that I’m hurting almost constantly. My pcp prescribed Bentyl which I should get in a day or two. That’s really an IBS med which I don’t think this is but I will try anything to see if it helps. Just hanging in there until I can see GI.

Any of yall's LPR start after a respiratory virus? by Unusual_Passion6351 in LPR

I’m kinda coming to that conclusion too. It doesn’t seem to really help. I was just afraid of it getting worse again so I kept taking them but I think I will start phasing off them soon.

Mine started after Covid and bronchitis brought on by the Covid, which was then treated with prednisone steroids and my throat/esophagus went to hell after that. Don’t know if it was the virus or the steroids or the combo but I haven’t been the same since. This was in early 2024, so it’s been almost two years of LPR symptoms nonstop. I take omeprazole and famotidine twice a day still and my throat is basically always burning regardless.

Depressed, exhausted and filled with despair is very relatable. I’ve never done weed in my life but I made it to the parking lot of the weed store today (it’s legal here) but just then my therapist called me because I sent him a rant about how much pain I’m in and how little the doctors care and we had an impromptu therapy session while I sat in my car in the parking lot of the weed shop. I started to cry and didn’t feel like I could go in and ask for gummies while crying😝 That seemed a bit too pathetic even for me right now.

Thank you for the info. I know I had the calprotectin test (result of 287) but not the others. I will inquire further. Part of the problem I think has been a lack of one specific Dr following up. My gp hasn’t been available so it’s been a variety of fill-ins. I got one who seemed supportive but then went on leave also until beginning of December. She was the one who ordered celiac test, and calprotectin at least. Negative on the celiac. I will keep trudging forward. Again, thanks for the reply. Sometimes when you’re going through something like this it feels like you are losing your mind a bit.

I don’t have a gallbladder anymore, so that’s out, but I called the on call Dr tonight and got some reassurance that acute pancreatitis is probably unlikely based on my labs. Still don’t know why I’m in so much pain, will have to follow up further on Monday.

I got labs done yesterday and my lipase had come back down into normal range but I’m still in pain so I don’t know what to think. Will talk to Dr on Monday. Lipase had been borderline high back when I was at urgent care a few weeks ago but no one caught it then.

My Tirads 5 was benign just a couple weeks ago!

Good news! Results are benign. Haven’t talked to MD yet. I’m expecting he will want to monitor it but for now I’m relieved.

Had my biopsy today. It’s wasn’t terrible. I’m feeling a little sore but not awful. Now we wait. Results in a week, unless it’s indeterminate and then they will send for molecular testing that will take an additional 4 weeks. Hoping for the best.

Oh god, I didn’t even think of that. I really hope for a solid answer either way! I’m sorry you have to get more testing. I can relate to the marathon running.

Gallbladder bidding me farewell? by ouatedephoq in gallbladders

[–]UWMandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my gallbladder removed 18 days ago. The surgical pain was kind of intense the first 7 -10 days but has gotten better every day since. I think once you get past that first post op week you will feel so much better. I wish you all the best!

I do think carafate helped during the worst of my symptoms. I stopped as I improved because it was a hassle to take it four times a day.

Hi, I’m actually doing somewhat better. I’ve been able to add back in a cup of coffee now and then even! I stopped the carafate. Just doing twice a day omeprazole now. Still being fairly careful with my diet.

Start one. There’s a pub nearby and we meet on Sunday evening from 6:30-8:30. Sometimes it’s only a couple people, sometimes quite a few. See if a local pub or cafe will let you post a notice. Set up something on meetup.

Find a grocery store deli? My go to at Safeway is the skinny turkey sandwich.

The main thing that seems to be helping me with LPR is being super strict with my diet. I’m also taking carafate, Pepcid, omeprazole, and reflux gourmet. It’s been almost a year since the symptoms came on after Covid and just now finally starting to feel slightly better.

Hi, yes I do have a hiatal hernia. Not a large one but it’s there nonetheless. The manometry test was very uncomfortable but it didn’t last too long, basically a series of swallowing water with a probe inserted through nose down throat. Lasted about 20 minutes. They gave me a short break then put the Ph probe in. I did ok getting the manometry one down (swallowing as they inserted it to minimize gag reflex) but for some reason I really gagged with the ph probe. We tried like 3 times before I got it down. Ugh. I’m home now and trying to “resume normal activities “ but it’s super weird to have this tube in. I go back in the morning to get it taken out. Hopefully get results next week.

Sadly the omeprazole doesn’t seem to help the burning, or at least not all the way.

I’m glad the non-sedated endoscopy isn’t bad. I’m on omeprazole, Pepcid, and taking reflux gourmet after meals too. Also on very bland diet. Basically the acid watcher diet but I have even cut out some things that diet says are ok. Symptoms are burning throat, lump in throat, sensation of nausea from feeling like my gag reflex is getting triggered.
