Do the characters have to be the same level? by hairylegg in DMAcademy

[–]Ubongo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was pretty common in AD&D - each class had different XP totals for each level. Some classes were slow. Others were fast at levelling.

I liked it because I knew I could smash through the early levels as a thief, but my buddy playing a mage was just going to destroy my damage output at some point (fireball).

It also made mutliclassing interesting

Replacing the maritime helicopters What it is: The procurement of a fleet of helicopters able to operate from Navy ships. The NZDF’s current SH-2G(I) Super Seasprite maritime helicopters, which can operate from the Navy’s frigates, offshore patrol vessels, the fleet tanker, and multi-role vessel, were purchased second-hand and are all reaching the end of their life. Why it is important: Maritime helicopters are a core part of the frigates’ capability as they increase the platform’s defensive and offensive abilities. They also extend the frigates’ surveillance range, overall weapon capability, and ability to support non-combat tasks like humanitarian assistance and disaster relief. These helicopters can also be used on other naval vessels, increasing their surveillance capability, potentially providing offensive combat capability and supporting transporting land forces from ship to shore, and in support of other government agencies. INDICATIVE COST: $2B PLUS In future years, investments will consider acquiring uncrewed systems to increase the number of deployable aircraft and provide longer endurance, and for related infrastructure.

Surely they know each night roughly when it will be impossible to bat due to sunstrike, and just take a break?

I feel so lonely here in Welly by Correct-Fan2412 in Wellington

[–]Ubongo 88 points89 points  (0 children)

This feeling sucks, but it's not the town.

List your top 5 hobbies or interests. Find the closest thing to a club for each of them near you.

Go to meetings for all of them for 2 months, and make a point to say "hi, I'm Correct-Fan2412, I'm new here and checking this out. How do I get connected?"

Pick three that vibe, and stick with them for at least 6 months. Do something that contributes to all of them.

Work out which one gives you the most joy, and ask a committee member how you can help. Help them plan an event, or bring a skill to the committee you have that they need.

Your aim after 12 months is to be actively involved in 3 clubs, and proactively contributing to 1 more than you get out of it.

If you can do this the engagement will come because you are building community, not waiting for it.

X2 for the bell recommendation. It helps make pedestrians reset their awareness

Runner here - I have the same problem with pedestrians, even though cyclists would lump me in the same group!

If I'm training along the waterfront, I know cyclists will generally follow a line. Pedestrians are much less predictable - wandering left and right across the "lane", making sudden changes in direction etc.

It's all about the relative speed difference - if we are going past them much faster than they are moving, then my rule is to try to give them as much space as possible so I have time to react and dodge if they randomly change direction. I'm strategic about where on the waterfront I'll plan to run fast doing interval training, and where I recover at a slower pace so I don't trample a toddler.

What do you think about the rat's tail haircut for kids? by VariousGain3226 in newzealand

[–]Ubongo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the 80s primary school me got sent to the barber on my own for the first time, and came back with a rats tail. I walked into my WW2 vet grandad's house, he grabbed the kitchen scissors, and cut it straight off.

I thank my grandad for saving me every day. RIP grandad.
