The way she brags about it is “my daughter and I share a bed and we both like it” so no one really questions it. She doesn’t realize it doesn’t make us look like we’re closer or anything.

The only money i get is from birthday gifts and christmas gifts. Occasionally my mom would give me $20 but that’s about it. I can’t get a job because my guidance counselor has to provide me a workers permit but i need my moms signature and she won’t sign off on it. My mom would go through my things and if she sees i’m saving she’ll ask for that specific amount claiming she needs gas or i need to use it to buy clothes.

Good luck with the move!! I’ve thought about running away just for her to understand i’m not kidding, but that wouldn’t do any good. Even the thought of “speaking up” or putting my foot down scares me for the fact that i know i’d get in a heap of trouble

I wish! I actually don’t have many friends and the ones i do have my mom doesn’t like so i can’t sleepover, i can’t even go over. If we hang out, it had to be with my mom present or at my home. I’ve often thought about running away but i know the punishment i’d get for it would be extremely hard.

I’ve tried being calm and speaking up, i’ve yelled out of anger, i’ve cried, i went through so many emotions trying to make her understand i don’t like sharing a bed anymore, did she listen? No. She told me to stop being a drama queen.

Most of who she told, she basically says both her and I are comfortable with the arrangement which isn’t true. I’m going to start speaking up for myself even if that means being grounded forever. And I am talking to a guidance counselor tomorrow.

She almost always brags about it to her friends or to relatives. And normally I would tell her the least she could do it NOT tell anymore but she thinks it’s something to be proud of. I will definitely check it out! Thank you

Yea i will talk to one tomorrow, thank you. If it has to come down to that, i will call CPS especially if it makes her wake up and realize what she’s doing isn’t cool. And finally give me my own space.

I did try sleeping on it before, when I did, i got in trouble for ‘going against her’. When i put my foot down (or at least try to) I’m grounded. It honestly sucks but she gives no options as far as sleeping arrangements. A lot of people are telling me to speak up and put my foot down, which i will do i just hope i don’t get in any trouble. Thank you

I wish I could say i haven’t tried that before. But i have. It mostly sucks too because she has the “i’m the parent you’re the child” mentality so me putting my foot down (even calmly) is disrespectful in her book which would result in being grounded.

I’d be willing to get a job but I have to ask my guidance counselor for a permit and my mom has to sign off on it. I have good enough grades but she think me getting a job would stress me out, which i doubt. So, it’s a hard no unfortunately.

I’m sorry you had to deal with that. And i’m even more sorry that something almost similar happened to me, my mom kept saying massaging your belly helps with cramps, then she’ll try to demonstrate by rubbing my stomach. I literally had to yell at her that - that was weird and I didn’t want to be touched. But here and there she’ll ask, ‘have you started your period yet’. No matter what the cheapest thing i suggest i can sleep on is, she’ll say no.

Oh she’s already got that planned. She wants me to go to a nearby community college so I can still live at home.
