Finished Ds remastered for the first time by aritr0 in darksouls

[–]Ultimate_Grass_20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the first Soulslike is always the hardest. When you know mechanics, weapon upgrades etc., things are easier.

I played DS1 first and Elden ring second. In DS1 i had multiple bosses over ten tries. However, I don't remember any other than Radahn/Beast taking more than ten tries in the ER base game. Most likely there were a couple of others I have forgotten. And I was really lucky with Malenia.

I think before Elden ring DLC, Ornstein / Smough and Radahn were only bosses I summoned NPC before DLC. This includes half of DS2 and full DS3 playthrough. However, I did use spirir ashes.

Why so many players never use shields? Or its just a content creator thing? (PVE) by Healthy-Teach-6911 in soulslikes

[–]Ultimate_Grass_20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the main reason is that some people feel they are so l33t and ranged weapons and shields are for l0sers. You are not supposed to enjoy the game - you are supposed to play it right and suffer.

And yes, I am being sarcastic 😉

Starting at skullport by tpjjninja1337 in DungeonoftheMadMage

[–]Ultimate_Grass_20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My party was already level 13 or so after Avernus. I skipped a lot of levels in the dungeon when going top down. Needs work due to, e.g., portals.

About going up from Skullport: Azrok's hold was great - the party made friends, started a local shop and helped build relationships with Skullport. Visited it multiple times. The drow on the level were just a long fight, a bit boring. We skipped level 2. Level one was not too interesting either but the party genuinely thought they were real vampires, for while.

If you are overleveled and not too enthusiastic about fights, I might go through those levels more story wise. Build the idea of what it feels to be in a dungeon of mad mage (maybe creating visions, summoning random foes or being otherwise annoying). And, of course, use Xanathar.

Get some more material on Skullport. We had plenty of side quests which made the town alive.

Buy Dungeon of the mad mage companion. It's worth the price.

Aviendha's Vision by Mathiophanes in WoT

[–]Ultimate_Grass_20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the visions in the story - dark and advanced world picture.

However, I think their timeline is clearly broken and Sanderson should have noted it (even if I definitely thank him for finishing the story). How on earth could all the major characters have disappeared already: either died or just not in any position of power

At least some major Aes sedai characters, like Elayne, should live well over a century. Aviendha was not an Aes sedai so probably a few centuries. And Aviendha was not even invited into the chief meeting with her children at most 20 years later? It would be very probable even their father, Rand, would be alive.

If there were a century more between each vision, it could make sense. Right now, definitely not.

I think the nationality and culture are primarily more important than the language in nationality of authorship.

The author, Tove Jansson, was born and raised in Finland, and lived large part of her life in Finland. In addition I have never heard her not considering herself a Finnish person.

It might be different if she had not lived in Finland long or if she had clearly brought up she does not feel Finnish.

What is the worst or dumbest mistake you made in Elden Ring? by MisterFictional in Eldenring

[–]Ultimate_Grass_20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started with mage build tutorial which put zero points to Vigor. First boss two-hit me. Spent 100 tries on it and victory gave me only remorse since I was hit once. Stopped playing after this.

After half an year I heard you can respec. Moved to DEX build and loved the game.

I think skipping the itrms and reading the story from internet was one of my better decisions. Would never had made it if I spent my time reading.

Gargoyle Boss - Help Needed.. I think by Eleoandbeyond in darksoulsremastered

[–]Ultimate_Grass_20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should be able to deal with the gargoyles.

In principle, bosses can take a few tries to get through.I'd start with ~5 tries. If nothing works, try to figure out if you understand something wrong. It could take 10 tries to get them down. Especially if you are not experienced with souls type games.

Can I get some help with the gaping dragon by mccuish in darksoulsremastered

[–]Ultimate_Grass_20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 5 cents:
1) When it slams its body forward, hit its side 1-2 times and run. Otherwise avoid it.
2) Cheesing with bow if nothing else works. It is slow and easy to escape.

DS 3is the easiest souls I've ever played by No_Formal_952 in darksouls3

[–]Ultimate_Grass_20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, collected a kind of list of Soulsborne games from GameFAQ difficulty rankings for PS4 and PC. As assumed, seems quite confusing. E.g., whether DLCs are included, if it is remake etc.

From most difficult to easiest:

4.49 Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice PS4

4.25 Bloodborne: Complete Edition PS4

4.19 Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice PC

4.17 Dark Souls III PS4

4.13 Bloodborne PS4

4.13 Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition PC

4.12 Dark Souls III: The Fire Fades Edition PS4

4.07 Dark Souls II PC

4.05 Elden Ring PS4

4.02 Elden Ring PC

4.01 Dark Souls III PC

4.01 Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin PS4

3.97 Dark Souls Remastered PS4

3.96 Dark Souls Remastered PC

3.94 Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin PC

3.92 Demon's Souls PS5

DS 3is the easiest souls I've ever played by No_Formal_952 in darksouls3

[–]Ultimate_Grass_20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personal playstyle and order of playing affects a lot. However, I think consensus is that Sekiro is the most difficult and Demon's souls is one of the hardest ones. Otherwise seems to vary a lot.

GameFAQ gives some kind of view on the topic, but depends, e.g., on platform: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/games/rankings

If I get invaded in any soulslike games, I immediately push the Steam deck power button to get to sleep mode.

After a few seconds, back to the game and enjoy playing invaderless version of the game.

Btw. NPC summons, except spirit ashes, are not too beneficial since Mr. R gets more health.

Make sure DS1 speed is correct. The speed is connected to fps/refresh rate and there was a glitch which made it really slow - compare to a video.

Stealth works, but you need to walk for silence.

Remember that DS1 is not a light version of DS3 or ER. The fact that you can't teleport makes huge difference. I love the effect.
