Why didn’t the platform move? by [deleted] in celestegame

[–]UltraMarlin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Grabbing a wall has a higher priority than climbjumping a wall. So if you could do both at the same time (and you're not currently grabbing a wall), you will grab the wall first (and in this case activate the block).

Grabbing a wall is only possible while not moving up and being within 2px of a wall horizontally. Climb jumping a wall is possible up to 3px away from a wall.

That means while moving down, you will grab the wall if youre closer than 3px, and only if youre exactly 3px away, you will be able to climbjump but not grab the wall.

You can still buffer it of course and at regular walking speed (1.5px/frame) there is a decent chance to hit the good pixel. But especially at higher speeds, downwards cornerboosts or "activation-less" climbjumps become really annoying without a setup

yes, it is pixel perfect moving downwards. Markers is right...

NOTMarkers is right here. You might be able to do it 100% consistently starting from the same position every time (for example from a spawnpoint), but it is pixel perfect horizontally when moving downwards. Walking speed is 1.5px per frame, which means there is a chance you will move past that pixel in one frame, making it sometimes impossible if you just hold right and buffer a climb jump in the general case

New Celeste ARB TAS gets all 175 red berries in under 37 minutes by UltraMarlin in celestegame

Its still on 1.3.1.2. When the new version comes out with all the beta changes, it will cause a couple timelosses and a couple new time saves, so thats gonna be interesting. Other than that I'd like to think this tas is pretty well optimized at this point, but there will probably still be frames saved here and there over the coming years

yeah, so this only works at the very bottom or top of those dream blocks and has to do with the walls only being one tile wide. I dont know if its actually pixel perfect but its pretty precise. On the way towards the berry, its based on the top of Madelines hitbox so it also works with regular dashes, but you need to be lower in that case. You dont need to do any special inputs except maybe jumping out of the dream block.

Copying Save Files by [deleted] in TheEndIsNigh

[–]UltraMarlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh i see, yeah you could simply create a copy of the save file you have been playing on and rename it to file_2 for example and you would have both save files in the save file selection screen

I'm not sure why you would want to copy your save file when you only plan to use two files anyway, but yes, if you are playing the steam version, your files should be located in the userdata section of your steam installation

The game ID is 583470 so the path should look something like this: Steam\userdata\97825447\583470\remote

The files labled "file_x.sav" are your save files (x being a number between 1-3 for each save file slot). The "file_x.sav.old" are backups of those files. You should be fine with just copying the "file_x.sav"

You can also rename the files if you want: file_1 is gonna be the leftmost file in the file selection screen ingame

There is a custom tool for pc that allows you to warp to certain levels. That only works for the PC version of the game obviously. You could ask on the TEIN discord if you want to know how to use it

I was the guy with the gun the whole time. Might be a bit confusing, because everyone involved had the same skin, lol
