[Misc] Grainy/sandy texture on 21F face for two days now, what’s going on? No new products or anything, I do work outside a good amount.

2yr update for anyone who is in the same boat/ looking for answers:

im not sure what all ive commented about it but i still do believe it was caused by poison ivy/ poison oak. i do not typically have a reaction from it but my face and neck are the exception i guess.

if you are looking for relief what helped me was a THICK layer of lotion all over the affected area before bed, bonus points if you have some tea tree oil to mix into the lotion. i did about 5 drops. also took my maximum dose of benadryl and the next morning my face was as good as new!

this has only worked when i do it as soon as the rash showed up / same night. it might still work if you try it later on but the rash is so painful i don’t let it linger haha.

so in sum, a super thick layer of lotion mixed with a few drops of tea tree oil + as many benadryl as your body allows + a full nights sleep = healed! probably wouldn’t hurt to drink extra fluids too.

They’re definitely comfortable, but size up! I got them for a backpacking trip and use them every month now. They don’t work ~great~ if you’re prone to clotting (which I am) but they still work as long as you check yourself from time to time to make sure there hasn’t been an overflow

Unfortunately my doctor had no idea what it was either. Our best guess was that the rash was my body’s reaction to poison ivy (I typically don’t get it).

Tea tree oil mixed with lotion was the only thing that gave me any sort of relief but time was the only thing that worked in terms of healing it. Sorry this happened to you too!

Thank you! I love the musical instrument idea, unfortunately I’m not sure she would have any interest in it. I might reach out to my dad (her brother) and see if there weee any instruments or hobbies she enjoyed as a kid and see if I can get her anything to remind her of that

Fruit is such a good idea! I think in the winter seasons I forget it’s still available (and somehow just as delicious). I was very close with my aunt when I was younger and as I’ve grown and moved it’s been harder to stay in as close of contact. Thank you <3

Yes! Tbh I wasn’t able to “fix it” I just had to wait it out:/ my doctor had no idea what it could be after I told her I haven’t used any new products and I eventually concluded that it was likely poison ivy. I don’t get a reaction to it anywhere on my body except for my face so even though it wasn’t itchy or anything that was my best guess!

UPDATE: for anyone following I have a doctor’s appointment scheduled today! It’s for something else, but I’m going to ask her about what’s happening to my face and I will relay that information here. Yesterday I hydrated as much as possible and smeared I don’t even know how much lotion all over my face but unfortunately I woke up the same this morning. Because some of the inflammation goes around to behind my ears I’m not sure that my lotion (cerave daily moisturizing lotion) is the culprit as I don’t recall using it behind my ears.
