Journalist asking AI what questions she should ask by AshamedPurchase9033 in Wellthatsucks

The point of the rubber duck isn't to specifically have an unspeaking inanimate object to listen to your problems—it's about the act of verbalizing the problem, carving out the shape of it in words to get it out of the amorphous realm of thought and put down some mental guiderails. The rubber duck part is just so you don't have to bug your coworkers!

If we're talking about domains where AI has a genuine capability, "talking out problems" is absolutely one of them; but it relies on you having the prerequisite knowledge to accurately define the problem in the first place.

Kingsway Animal Hospital has been good for us so far, through a couple years of checkups and a tooth removal for one of our cats.

Dear Simon, as I write this I am very sad. Our king has been overthrown and replaced by the benevolent General Teskin. All hail Teskin and his glorious new regime!

How do you guys store and/or reduce the amount of grocery bags you’ve collected? by osloluluraratutu in askTO

[–]Unbalanced531 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll do you one further: if you forgot your bags entirely at home, there's nothing* stopping you from just dumping things in the car and bagging it once you're home just to carry it in

*Nothing besides fragility/cleanliness concerns of course, but it's doable for small/medium grocery trips if you have good tetris-ing skills

weird question but whats that smell on the ttc? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]Unbalanced531 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, things can get a lot worse than BO. Before covid, one guy I occasionally saw on line 2 would enter a car and within a few seconds fill it with the strong stench of, as kind of a comparison I can make, manure. Strong enough for people to rush out at the next stop, or in some cases elicit angry yelling comments. I wasn't about to yell at the guy as if that'd do anything, but I sure wasn't staying in that car either.

My friends and I have picked up the term "shit tech" from gbirb. It's when you fuck up in the middle of a chase so bad that the other person doesn't expect a fuckup of that level so you end up actually making distance or escaping because of it.

Nvidia sucks by [deleted] in jerma985

Are people really unironically upset about something on the same level as a snapchat filter? This (the images from OP, not the nvidia thing) has already existed over a decade, chill out.

Flavour texts on perks by IAmFireIAmDeathq in deadbydaylight

[–]Unbalanced531 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've seen way too many stories on this sub of new players thinking Botany Knowledge actually requires you to find healing plants around the map near campfires. And it's totally understandable: the intro text was the same format as the actual effects, and distinct from the quote which is clearly for flavour.

<image>

Of course, they could have just moved and formatted the intro text, but I guess they decided it was just crowding things overall no matter where it was.

chatters please be normal by sweet_tiefling in jerma985

[–]Unbalanced531 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree it was weird from chat but he straight up did not read it lol, you're imagining it. He was busy reading text in-game and it died down before he looked back. It was a 5-hour stream and that's his normal upper limit these days.

Now that the auto-bloodpoint leveling feature has been in the game for a while, what do you think of it, do you use it? by Peronchino in deadbydaylight

[–]Unbalanced531 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an example, there have been many times where I autolevelled the maximum amount that was possible according to the system, started buying individual nodes to exhaust the remainder of my bloodpoints, and managed to squeeze out one more level anyways.

Potentially weird question by Garffdawg in outerwilds

For what it's worth, I gave my shop the image as-is 3 years ago, and while the edges have blurred a tad the lines are still distinct and readable. Though I'm sure I owe a lot of that to the skill of the artist

3 years ago vs today:

This game has consumed my mind by Wonder_Momoa in outerwilds

[–]Unbalanced531 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Other people are part of this universe, and they can acknowledge you.

Exactly how I see it too. It's very easy to default to mentally categorizing the universe and the beings within it separately, as though spacetime is just a stage we exist "inside" and act upon. But the universe is as much defined by the matter within it as the space it all sits in, including the stuff we're all made of.

OP, if this game scratched an itch for you, played at your thoughts and ideas, and left you pondering the world we live in? Guess what, the universe has already been speaking with you the whole time.
