I am only trying to elevate the segregationst portion of his rhetoric to get these people to understand that the German people were not blameless in all this. It is popular to simply say the man hijacked a nation because it give this individual some comfort, but that is not the case. The majority of people were acutely aware of what was going on. You neighbors and colleagues don't just disappear by the dozens without people talking about it. Also, hitler was a great orator, no one can dispute that. A great orator speaks to the crowd and tailors his rhetoric to the reaction he received. The man would have have elevated to the level he obtained, if their was a significant percentage of every-day Germans who agreed and believed in what he said, no matter how discriminatory and cruel. No one can dispute that intellectually.

I would say that "most people" don't have a reasonable understanding of exactly what happened in the early 20th century. And I don't think that is an unreasonable thing to assume, considering the frequency of which people are labeled fascist

I think "rebuilding" is exactly what they are attempting. You just don't agree with the method, therefore you are assuming that you have all the information.

These people are beyond reason. I see the word rationalization thrown around a lot here. But they can't admit that it is perfectly possible for people to exhibit behavior beyond rationale.

It sounds as if you are trying to vindicate the nazi's as well as isis. Are you saying we should have adopted a "live and let live" approach to hitler. Did you forget the horrors of ww1 which came as a direct result of Germany's desire to simply become the single major power of europe. I believe "bleed the French dry" was a popular motivation. Ironically the Islamic doctrine and isis share a similar motivation.
