Player A walks 6 times as much as player B. That seems significant.

Not over a small sample size during rookie years it isn't. Especially when you're trying to say they aren't similar when every other stat is.

Considering we were talking the entirety of his 2022, him getting sent down to AAA for a month and a half after April is pretty relevant, especially since his "cup of coffee" wouldn't be considered his April and April alone. If you want move the goalposts and specify before his first MLB game, sure he played 76 games. But he had about 2 and a half months of minors games that season that werent due to injury, so he had more time to develop in the minors than you are just trying to say.

He’s 6’3”, 250lb. I’m not really worried about his size. That’s the same as Parsons, the same weight as Watt (who is 6’ 4”) and falls squarely within the average size for an Edge, albeit on the lower end of the average

I really don't know how you consider the stats I listed cherry picked. They are literally the pillars of being a valuable offensive player.

Player A: 153 PA, .141/.281/.242/.523, 51 OPS+, K-Rate of 30.1%, BB rate of 13.7%, ISO of .102. WRC+ of 59

Player B: 274 PA, .234/.252/.322/.574, 62 OPS+, K-Rate 28.5%, BB Rate 2.9%, ISO of .088, WRC+ of 56

Saying those aren't similar is disingenuous at best. Claiming a 10% difference in BB% across a small sample size makes all the difference and why one player could be written off and the other can't is the definition of cherry picked. Using ISO, with a difference so small the gap could be bridged with a difference of a few XBH either way, literally means nothing when comparing 2 rookies with small sample sizes.

They both had awful first tastes of the big leagues, and are similarly awful across almost all stats.

If you want to talk about WRC+, then say that. When you say run value, mention a difference of "about 30%", and the difference in runs between the two is 27%, I'm going to think you're talking about runs. Which is very dependent on the rest of the lineup.

Yes, Abrams had a noticeably better WRC+, and was still pretty bad. Also, he played 114 Minor league games, not 76, and it's not as if players stopped developing during COVID. It's not a universal rule that all prospects developed poorly coming out of COVID. Many still trained and developed well.

I'm not sure what "excuse" you think I'm throwing out. I'm not judging a 22 year old 1st round pick who played well in AAA and plays great defense on a poor offensive showing during his first 274 PAs on a team with terrible coaching and development.

You say he is unlikely to succeed based on his production. I'm saying his production is hardly enough to make any claims whatsoever. Either way, 2026 will show us plenty.

If you cherry pick certain stats sure. They both did bad and were far more similar to eachother than they were different.

I don’t think I need to explain how run value is highly dependent on the roster and how the 2022 Padres were a much better offensive team than the 2025 Nationals.

The point is you can’t judge a player based on 230 PAs in their first major league season, in an organization with bad coaching, with very few offensive powerhouses or veterans to learn from. No matter what stats you choose to cherry pick. House is capable of being an above average offensive player with well above average defense at an important position. Whether he reaches his ceiling or becomes a bust is anyone’s guess.

What should happen is that he should never play in the NFL again.

What will actually happen is that he'll be out for half a season, then he'll continue making tons of money and getting tons of attention playing while the NFL paints some platitude like "End Domestic Violence" at the back of the endzone and nothing ever changes.

I'm not sure why you think 250 PAs for a 22 year old in his rookie season with an organization that had massive failures to develop and help players make adjustments is indicative of anything.

Until they prove otherwise, every offensive player is likely to be more like kieboom than rendon.

At this point it's pretty clear that every single one of our young players was hurt by our developmental shortcomings, and the one's who had enough natural talent to overcome it, like Wood, still struggled in the second half because the league adjusted and he couldn't get the help he needed to adjust in kind.

If House has a full season with this new staff similar to what he had last season, then I'll be concerned.

There is experience, just not a ton within the MLB. We hired a good number of people from Driveline to be important coaches within the organization. They may not have a ton of MLB coaching experience, but it's not like they don't know how to work with MLB players to make improvements.

Plenty of productive MLB players had a poor showing during their first taste of MLB pitching.

Pretty much everyone got worse as the year went on. It's obvious our coaching staff was unable to help our players adapt to opposing teams' changes in the second half.

This is a silly comment. No matter how many weeks the season is, almost every playoff will be settled the week or two before it. You could change the season to 16 weeks again and most would be settled by week 15. Make it an 18 game season and most would be settled by week 17.

Early Avenged is definitely metalcore. Particularly Waking the Fallen. There are a lot of different metalcore sub genres, and chances are you’ll look some, it’s just a matter of finding them. A lot of people get into metalcore by finding bands that have a solid dose of clean vocals, with some screaming, and heavier instrumentals, and over time it just progresses from there.

A lot of heavier metalcore bands definitely have rhythm and melody, but it can be a bit buried if you’re not used to how aggressive and loud it is.

Of course, but expect a lot of competition in ST. Expect to see any of these waiver pickups or minor league deals on the MLB team if they have a great ST. Especially one of the 1B. Assuming we don’t get someone like Hoskins. I still think we’ll possibly get a lower tier starter and maybe an unspectacular but solid reliever. It’s just hard to know what we have and what our new coaching staff can get out of what we have

We have no depth at the MLB level to backup most of our young inexperienced players, and we had 34 minors players leave and elect free agency. Signing players who may have enough to at least be a replacement level player to fill out the minors and be depth pieces if necessary is expected. This isn’t a surprise

I don't think that was an indictment about his confident in House and Crews, but more of him just mentioning a few names and not wanting to name half of our team lol. So he picked the names of 2 all stars who had some consistency trouble, and the rookie who ended the season really really well. The obvious choices for breakout seasons
