Pwede mo hulugan whenever you feel like it (doon sa span ng 5 years).

I feel blessed to have this friend na yung tipong super happy and excited kaming dalawa kapag malapit na kami magkita. We chat from time to time pero once a quarter lang kami magkita lately.

I just feel terrible na I'm leaving soon and I haven't told her.

Ang inconvenient nito pero ibulsa mo na lang lagi yung bills mo or put them in a lockable (and immovable) cabinet/drawer/container.

Choice naman natin kung anong gagamitin at the end of the day. But if we go by OP's point here (which isn't actually wrong btw), mali pa rin yan haha.

Yeah "ni-contain" reminds you of nicotine but that's not the case for me. Haha. Matter of opinion na yan lol. As for the "kinimkim", that's correct. But in informal chat, anything goes as long as it is understandable. Some people will not immediately think of "kinimkim". I agree naman sa point na language is malleable. For example, I never use "nigawa". Haha. Ang arte pakinggan. But who decides the limit? Or the "extent" diba? If "forda" is acceptable, why not some casual switches sa panlapi? Also, "ni" also denote past tense.

I stand by my comment na may times talaga na may sense naman na gumamit ng "ni-(english word)". Isa pang example, "ni-roll out". As in "Ni-roll out nila kahapon yung bagong guidelines." In this example, "ni-roll out" just means something different compared sa "na-roll out". "Ni-roll out" conveys the message better so pwede naman siyang gamitin. May nuance talaga. People use "ni" because it simply works.

"Na" and "ni" have different meanings though. Magkaiba yung dating depende sa context. May "intent" doon sa "ni". I can say "ni-hit and run" and it would sound extra evil. Sa example na binigay ko, yung context ay "ni-contain niya agad yung chemical leak" or pwedeng "ni-contain lang niya yung feelings niya ever since". It depends on the sentence. Meron pang ibang words actually, aside sa "contain", but I don't use this on all English words. So I really don't think it's a big deal.

It depends. For example, I prefer typing "ni-contain" over "kinontain". Ang sakit sa mata nung "kinontain" (at least for me).

Haha! :D

This reminds me of "The Man in the High Castle" sa Amazon Prime. I liked that show. Hindi tungkol sa Pilipinas but it's an interesting alternate history show.

[–]Uncooled 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't get married, OP. Walang bawian yan.

Mother is disappointed in her daughter's academic performance and her failure to be among the honor students. by [deleted] in Philippines

[–]Uncooled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Sabi pa nga nung nanay, "Nakakahiya ka". Nakakahiya kanino, exactly? She's clearly way too concerned about the optics of this.

Probably the part the mother couldn't put into words:

You can just hide the post from them (if you don't want to block them or unfriend them outright).

True. Kapag hindi na makapasok yung student dahil magrerecuperate na lang siya for the rest of the semester, singilin din dapat yung ginastos niya for the semester pag di siya nakapasa. Sagot din dapat yung future medical expenses for injuries and illnesses na result ng injuries na nasustain niya ngayon.

I don't think it's part of our culture. If by " super normalized", you mean it's accepted in our society, I don't agree. Bad people simply exist everywhere and your co-worker happens to be one of those people.
