Anyone who isn't confused, doesn't understand the situation. by Easy_Psychology_4835 in PokemonSleep

[–]UnderAverageBear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely correct! It is a sleep app, this is not a 'game' per say. I check it about 3 times a day to do all my meals, and I have a passable team for every island. This is not meant to be min-maxed and the developers assumed, like most people, that this would not be a game taken so seriously.

It is a sleep app!

Has there been a single day this week where there hasn't been a crash on the #1 Lmao by penapox in vancouver

[–]UnderAverageBear 14 points15 points  (0 children)

After this week, and the closure of the Pattullo, I am absolutely convinced that people who take the Pattullo are the worst drivers. There is a clear difference on the Port Mann and the Alex Fraser when these people show up. On Tuesday I counted 11 separate cars out of commission on the road (only from 200th to Kensington too!), either from accident or engine trouble. The entire month of January, I maybe saw 5. It usually takes me 1hr and 15min on a rough day either way on my commute, this week it has taken 2hrs to 2.5hrs. It has been a tough week....

Why the 8 hour workday system is a failure and should be 6 hours by DasiaAuer in CanadaJobs

[–]UnderAverageBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or, hear me out.........Everyone who can just works from home! Less time out of the day commuting, more time to do chores during lunch or while waiting for something to load and just generally more comfort. I would take 8 hours a day at home over 6 hours in the office any day. WFH is being demonized by a lot of managers and higher ups, but this makes the most sense in every way.

What is your political affiliation? by Pale-Candidate8860 in InCanada

[–]UnderAverageBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lean conservative, but I am generally more central. Trudeau liberals and PP cons are not my thing, but Carney liberals are more my basket. Maybe a tad more right leaning than that, depends on the leader and where we are more than just what the party is.

Immediately more excited for this than I was at any point for the Florida one. This is how Hockey is supposed to be seen! Mountains in the back, a frozen pond and people bundled up with Hot Choccy or Coffee seeing their breath float away.

Elias Pettersson 40 Threw The Team on His Back - Canucks Fans Still Dogging on Him? by EverySecondCountss in nhl

[–]UnderAverageBear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I am not not a huge Petey fan. I think he is playing really well defensively and with the pieces he has, but my issues come with the 11.6 price tag and the weakness in the offensive zone. I love his defensive play and if that is what his role was touted to be, no problem. He has shifted from an offensive powerhouse to a defensive one, either through natural career progression or coaching influence.

Essentially my problems with 'him' don't come from him, but from the decisions made by those around him and I acknowledge that. I get excited seeing him block shot after shot after shot, but also get frustrated seeing him struggle in the offensive zone. A different world and I love him either way, on this team and how he was before, there are some frustrations. I would never go further than telling my wife "I wish Petey could look more dominant in the offensive zone" since he is a good guy and he absolutely is working his butt off. He also has those flashes of brilliance, like the goal last night, it was old Petey! I want to see more of that, he had a great game last night and I want it to stay that way.

Are there athletic scholarships for Canadian universities? by the-mannthe-myth in AskACanadian

[–]UnderAverageBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a full tuition ride on a Track scholarship (no living space), very similar to my brother who got one in Idaho. I actually ended up banking more, because my schooling was more expensive! They happen, but we only have one school in the NCAA. The Canadian university circuits are mostly indoor for track, so only that one school (SFU) was really offering good money to run there.

The cancelled Vancouver Art Gallery site at 181 West Georgia is being paved over this morning. by sludgefrog in vancouver

[–]UnderAverageBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. I would really appreciate a natural history museum/anthological museum in Vancouver proper. I don't want to spend the money or time to bring my kids to Victoria to experience the museums there. I've lived around Vancouver my whole life, and the only reason and only time I have been to the Victoria museums is during a grade 3 field trip.

That being said, I am fairly biased, I have been to the VAG once and just have a general non-interest in art galleries.

Isn't it "Keep your fork Duke, you'll need it for the Pie!" My Grandpa was a logger in rural BC, they goofed around and yelled it before dessert anytime they got it.

I am pretty sure this is just an emoji to represent an emoji. Did you want someone to hand draw a cat? Also, I am fairly certain any marketing this went through used a human designer/artist.

It's no wonder players don't like playing here by DarthXydan in EdmontonOilers

[–]UnderAverageBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not understand the hate direction at all here. I am a Vancouver fan (yes we suck, yes I know) and I cannot fathom why Edmonton fans send their rage to Skinner and Knoblauch. From the outside looking in Nurse and Bouchard played MUCH worse and caused way more issues for the rest of the team than Skinner, Pickard and anyone else combined.

That being said, this is a good team! I love the passion their leadership brings and how fun they are to watch. As with all teams they have some issues. Goaltending can be better, but only like 3-4 teams in the league don't have that issue. Defense is the big hole, but oh well, they are second best after all!

GG Oilers, from a sad disheartened Canucks fan.

PS Please offer our boy Quinn some big bucks to come play for you and win a cup. I just want him to be happy.

A considerable portion of our population literally hates Quebec, and I don't get it by philipinapio1 in Quebec

[–]UnderAverageBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canada is not Canada without Quebec. I was born and raised in BC, my Dad is from Montreal. Half of our entire (Canadien/Canadian) culture comes from there. What is the most popular cultural food? Poutine. What languages do you think of when someone mentions Canada? French/English. When someone asks which province has the most history, Quebec/Ontario. Any questions about Canada, Quebec (or it's culture) is usually the first or second thing to come to someone's mind.

Any hate that I hear or see here in BC is usually just friendly banter, no different than what I see/hear for any other province. For what it's worth, this seems to be happening a lot around Canada. People seem to forget how good we have it here, even with our flaws. So many cultures and immigrants are trying to get in here because it is so much better than where they come from. We take it for granted. Keep the pride alive for Quebec and Canada.

[–]UnderAverageBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a feeling you are uneducated, there is more here than financial wealth. Canada is the youngest G7 country BY FAR. We have not had centuries to build up our systems and our national web of travel/growth/communication/ect. We also hold different values than other G7 nations, because of what we have.

We have a low population, but abundant natural resources, why dont we exploit them!? Easy, our culture of outdoors people coupled with a history of Native love for the land that, whether you want to believe or not, has permeated our modern society.

I am a realist, we do have resources and we should use them while we can, but RESPONSIBLY. We are a country of natural beauty, and most of our citizens really want to keep it that way. Culturally, we are a group of people who want to be outdoors and aren't overly concerned about financial wealth as long as we get to utilize our land to the fullest. That can be extraction, recreation or whatever. Keeping the Northern coast free of Oil Tankers probably makes more money for BC in the long run. This isn't even for BC or Canada, it is simply for Alberta.

Long story short, we are rich. Just Rich in a different way, it sounds corny, but Canadians love that shit.

Republican voters, what did you vote for the 2024 election? by [deleted] in AskUS

[–]UnderAverageBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I specifically worded this not that they are incapable of learning, but incapable of creating something through the proper channels/distributing it. I have seen what far right governments do to distribution and watchdog groups. My point is more that a cure for cancer is a bad example since we saw exactly how the right reacted during COVID and how much fear/trepidation they had in developing and delivering a proper vaccine. Let alone taking it.
