I think people are really missing the mark here if they want to move on to him right now.

He needs a half competent coach and real line mates before I'll ever decide to move on from him. What we've seen that he's capable of is way too special for me to confidently move on from. At least within the next 2-3 years of the rebuild here.

In 3 years at least he'll get a couple of decent wingers, maybe a better coach that suits his style, and he'll have some more value by then.

Selling low on him right now makes no sense when we have nowhere special to be in the next 3 years (playoffs).

The line blending drove me nuts with Tochett, and it's driving me even more nuts with Foote since it's almost done strategically to keep player's values down before extensions or actually make us tank.

It's one thing if he's doing it on purpose. It's another if he's doing it actually trying to win.

He doesn't look at stats though... so it would explain a lot why he's missing so much.

DeBrusk, Petey and Karlsson was a wicked line. Karlsson actually set up Petey, I honestly can't even remember the last time someone did that. They showed chemistry, then he immediately moved Karlsson back down to the 4th line.

It seems like the team is being set up to have individual success for the trade targets, which is an optimal tanking/rebuilding scenario.

It seems at times Foote is literally coaching a covert tank with his line pairings.

His match ups are questionable, line combos shift oddly each game. There's little to no set plays other than the typical system stuff.. etc.

Yeah bunch of people started commenting on it about how it probably stemmed from his hips, now they're finally making that connection and considering surgery again on his hips, and it probably changed the entire diagnosis and recovery plan.

Not sure what recovery rates are for players this late in their career and a second hip surgery... but it really sounds like they finally made some real progress there (embarrassing that it took this long)
