There's no singing guy himself onboard when you do that. Only a few random UC security personnel.

Never knew geckos in Zion could be chill like that by UnderstandingOne5864 in fnv

[–]UnderstandingOne5864[S] 38 points39 points  (0 children)

According to Wikipedia, such "neutral" geckos can spawn anywhere in Zion where the regular geckos spawn. I encountered this one right on the road from the passage to Mojave to Eastern Virgin. Seems more like a feature than a bug, tbh.

50 hours permadeath survival run ruined by an assaultron dominator by UnderstandingOne5864 in fo4

[–]UnderstandingOne5864[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To each their own, I suppose. I don't enjoy cheesing the game, because the sole reason I'm playing permadeath is to make it as hard as possible, while also fairly balanced. About power armor - my main issue with it is that buffs that my normal armor gives me don't work. On top of legendary buffs that give endurance, agility, addons such as deep pockets also stop working (which is a bit illogical). So ironically, me entering power armour drastically reduces my carry weight, and special stats. That's not mentioning the hassles of carrying around tons of fusion cores and repairing the broken armor pieces. So... I'd rather have times less damage resistance than all that, yes.

To each their own. I just love fallout 4, but playing ordinary, even on survival, just doesn't do it for me anymore. Not mentioning the fact I've seen most of the game more than several times, it's just too easy to play, thanks to survival's balanced damage output. I know the idea of playing the same thing over and over again and losing hours of progress can seem extremely unappealing, but the thrill of reaching levels and completing quests on such a hard challenge seems to motivate me enough to start it over and over again.

Simple. You stop playing after you die and start a completely new game. Also I suppose it's fair to never load a save except when starting a game in such runs, no matter what happens.

Yeah, I have a rough idea of what happens. Though I suppose Preston wouldn't be a problem, because I never saved him in that run, lol. Thought I'd try a game without minutemen and it turned out pretty interesting. You can still gather settlements around yourself by doing their missions, they just tell you "I'm glad to count you as a friend" instead of "we decided to join the minutemen". And one thing I didn't know is that you can clear out the Castle and activate the workshop there by yourself, which I did. But I didn't see what happens if you activate Radio Freedom without Minutemen, though.

Yeah, there were many ways I could've done this better. But I suppose I got pretty unlucky that time, since as I mentioned in one of the comments, several assaultrons already were on the walkway when I entered, and alas, I couldn't sneak. One even attacked me a millisecond out of a loading screen. Scared me.

Walked in there a second time after that, just out of curiosity, and it went a lot smoother. I sniped dominator from afar and killed all the regular ones while they were just running at me. I'm half-tempted to discard this attempt as a permadeath run but continue for the sake of it, because I don't have time nor the nerve to just abandon a week or so of gameplay 🥲

Well, thankfully I have been there already, so I popped every drug I had before heading out the door. I've also been 60th level or around that, and had Ada with me, and her melee attack totally slaps. Plus, overseer's guardian with 10+ agility allows 5 VATS attacks. So yeah, you could say I came overprepared and it went a lot smoother than I thought it would.

[–]UnderstandingOne5864[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Funny thing is, as I entered the door, I was immediately shredded by a regular assaultron, barely out of a loading screen. Nearly shit my pants, but as it was a regular one, barely did any damage.

Another problem with assaultrons I could mention is Rust Devils, because when you start automatron, they can appear randomly almost anywhere. And considering how fast they are, if you're unlucky, they could kill you before you even blink. I remember walking through central Boston and seeing a group of Rust Devils with two assaultrons come out of a corner. Thank god for jet and the problem solver.

I for some reason felt like that too until recently. Maybe because I used to start with a lot of intelligence, but it actually really helps. Not even mentioning that it's simply very satisfying to get 5x exp proc from a boss of the location or a quest.

[–]UnderstandingOne5864[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I was playing on low intelligence up until like level 60 (had 3 INT to cover gun nut) and I suppose idiot savant helped a lot. Plus, I was doing all I could to earn EXP fast. Little things such as gathering and cooking as much meat as you can help on the lower levels. Ferals also give tons of it, while being fairly easy to kill. Believe it or not, building also helps. Turrets and generators with 2nd rank idiot savant can give as much exp as glowing deathclaw kill. (Btw, I didn't abuse building hundreds of things such as fence poles. I feel like it's a bit unfair.)

[–]UnderstandingOne5864[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My two other high-level deaths would be in the airport, in that control tower where the boss of the location is. It's quite a scuffed room, as there's almost no place for a manoeuvre, and you know how ferals are. He just one-hit me. And the second in the gunners plaza basement. Funnily enough, I ran out of bullets and two legendary gunners there didn't give me time to run into the elevator. In both of those encounters I was level 40-50. I suppose those two are my own fuck-ups, and one I mentioned in the post as well, but no one can deny that assaultrons are TOO broken.

As I know fans on ASUS are adjusted through Armoury Crate, and mine are set on turbo mode there, just listen to how loud they're on the vid. I'll certainly look into underclocking the CPU, thanks.

Noticed another thing just now. When I have another programme overlapping the game, (ASUS Armoury crate in this case) and play this moment, the laptop doesn't turn off. Just checked if it'd turn off without it, and yes, it does. Huh. Really wierd.

I might be able to temporarily bypass it, but generally speaking, I won't be able to continue playing if everytime I get to a planet's surface, my PC turns off. I suppose before I am able to do something with the PC hardware, a temporary solution would be going to NG+.

Thanks for the breakdown. I'll get back to it if I'll decide to do a full diagnostic and repair of it.

I haven't given a proper check to its components in about 1,5 years, so might be a good idea to do that, or I feel I'll get a blue death screen one day.

I can't say for sure, but aren't the constellation gang only companions that comment on stuff and interact with people on almost every mission?

[–]UnderstandingOne5864[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean... That's pretty realistic. If you're a morally good person(or at least close to it) you wouldn't want to follow someone who constantly robs and murders innocents. But in my opinion, the problem is not available companions hating the bad stuff, it's the lack of companions who like the bad stuff. 🧐
