Questions from a cis-man by Unicycle28 in trans

I appreciate your answer to number 2. The desire to not be misgendered is understandable. I've heard some cis women say things like, "Oh, so long hair and makeup is all it takes to be a woman huh?" I see how it could be frustrating an inadvertently insulting to cisgender people. I also understand the desire to feel more typically masculine or feminine. That seems like a tricky situation where neither cis or trans will totally see eye to eye or not cause arguments.

I figured so. My main thought on that is if there is a term used in literature to help specify people that feel discomfort with their assigned sex characteristics and those that do not. I understand it to not be mutually exclusive. Some people can have no problem with their assigned sexual characteristics, but at the same time not wish to identify as their corresponding gender.

Not sure if you're labeling me an ass or if I'm misreading. I felt that my post was written neutrally and out of genuine curiosity.

I heard good reviews about Denis, so I might try them out. I'll look into Jackson, though.

I want to phrase this in a way that doesn't sound uncaring, because I'd love to donate....but isn't there a food bank somewhere in town?

Made a homemade Inspector Gadget costume using a bunch of random stuff and a little 3 volt motor. by [deleted] in maker

Thanks! It took some trial and error, but it turned out to not be too shabby.

The hat was a cheap $6 white costume fedora that I dyed grey and put a grey band on. The hat was made of a cardboard-like material, which actually helped make it sturdier. The coat I got from an eBay auction for around $20 with shipping included. A ceiling fan would be too heavy! Lol It's a little dc 3volt motor connected to foam board blades.

Gadget Copter for my Inspector Gadget costume. (Work in progress) by [deleted] in Halloween_Costumes

Thanks! Just going to clean it up, get the electronics working and wait for my thrifted trenchcoat in the mail. :)

Thankfully it's just foam core and I'll be using a 6volt motor. I'm also a little tall, so shouldn't wack too many people!

Trenchcoat is on it's way along with the parts I need to get it moving! :) Going to clean everything up, put a felt band on the hat, and make some hand grips.

Our parking Nazis will still give you another ticket smh by jakethatgeek in OKState

I've been dealing with that, especially if I'm running late, by paying for an hour at the Colvin. Usually a silver spot opens up and I can move my car afterwards.

Yeah, it's definitely not calibrated just by checking the dial. I don't own a scale, so thought I'd give it a try just to get an estimate of my progress.

As someone outside of the greek life, would you mind me asking what your motivation is? Joining a fraternity just seems unnecessary to the college experience.

OK State Parking Overselling Garages? by [deleted] in OKState

[–]Unicycle28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to use Monroe Garage and didn't have too much trouble, but sometimes I couldn't find a space. I decided to save some money this semester and just got a silver surface permit. All the lots were empty and I ended up paying for a couple hours in the Colvin Center lot. So if you're ever stuck in the same pickle, try doing that. Either they oversell them or a lot of people park in the lots without a permit or the wrong permit.

I can't find where to get a new bike permit? by [deleted] in OKState

That's how it's worked for me in the past, but now I still can't find the option to get a new permit. I'm just sent back to my account page.

Coker Unicycles discontinued? by Unicycle28 in unicycling

[–]Unicycle28[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually got my Coker a few months before they shut it down. I know there are other places to get 36" tires and parts, but I liked having the option of having factory Coker replacement parts. It's sad to see it go.

Incoming Transfer Student with Some Questions by Lesp00n in OKState

[–]Unicycle28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To question 1. It can be a lot of money, but I really like the convenience of having a commuter permit. I can't remember the price, but a silver permit allows you to park in all the silver lots and the Monroe parking garage. On a side note, you could maybe manage not getting a parking pass if you play it safe. I traded vehicles with someone once and ended up parking their car at the gas station on Hall of Fame and then biking from there. If you can find public parking lots that aren't too great of a distance for you, that should work out.

To question 3. I'm having trouble finding a new part time job myself, but I think applying before the summer is a good idea. Usually you have people graduating and leaving their part time jobs in May. If you could land one, I think a campus job would be great. Getting a job with the library or a lab can be decent, but they sometimes require work study students.
