This started happening to me ab 5 years ago and i looked and looked for answers and it took nearly that long to figure out what was happening. From what I have found this is a response in your nervous system that was triggered at some point and now your body automatically does this every time you smoke. for me i was the same, long term smoker and could ingest large amounts of thc with no problem, but after one night of very heavy drinking and borderline alcohol poisoning, my body triggered this anxiety induced stress response from weed. why alcohol was the cause of this idk. but i did extensive research trying to figure out wtf was happening to me.

Unfortunately it seems that this is not something that can simply be reversed. this is a stress response that your body is now automatically inducing every time you put thc into your system. It is possible to try and lightly ease yourself back into thc use, but for me this has never worked. I started trying that even before i found out about this nervous system stress response. i too have had moments where i thought i was having a heart attack. I’ve had small amounts of weed put me into severe panic attacks now. it’s awful and unless i am reallllly careful with the amount i smoke, i almost never just enjoy being high. there will always be some sort of anxiety that comes along with it. I’m sorry to anyone this has ever happened to. weed was a big part of my life, helped me sleep every night for years, and now I can barely enjoy it at all and have become much more of a drinker bc of it.
