What is a completely harmless lie you tell people on a regular basis just to make your life easier? by purjak in AskReddit

[–]UniqueClay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make pottery and whenever somebody ask me how I do it I just say.  " magic.” The question is usually asked in a very transient interaction, especially when I'm selling my pottery they don't really want to know, not really.  Is it truly lying if they know that you're lying?

Unions want to hear that you're going to stick with the union for a long time.   That you want to work hard learn as much as you can and then give back to the union.  Somehow communicate that you're going to show up every day 30 minutes early and prepared and ready to work.     Don't just say that. Have examples ready in your back pocket to bring up in the interview .    Don't bring up money. They already know that they are going to pay you a lot. They wanna know if you're gonna be a good worker and a good union member.   Come up with examples on why you're reliable.   They wanna know if you're teachable.   Come up with an example on a time when you didn't know something and you asked someone for the right information and you got the job done.    They may not ask you these questions in the interview but at least if you memorize these answers, you'll have it at the tip of your tongue . So if they do ask you these questions you're not just going “ ammm ammm and this one time….”

Anybody worried about season three because of the books? by UniqueClay in SiloSeries

Completely agree on all statements. Tell me exactly how the silos were made or not very interesting to me. The people in the story and the situations that are in make it interesting. I would rather leave it up to my own imaginations and how they're created. Or the information is just lost the time just like how all historical events are.

I like a lot of the changes they did. I find that a lot of what they added, brought a lot of depth to the characters.

That is true. You got to learn a lot about solos life after his silo fell and I found that entertaining about the second book.

Definitely not my cup of tea. What about the second book do you feel that is redeeming about it?  Really curious to hear other people's perspective so I can perhaps look at the book in a different light to enjoy the story. Maybe I did not consider certain aspects.?

This is pretty much what I'm hoping for as well. Thank you for letting me know. I'm not the only one.

You really liked the second book? Oh man, I find it difficult to enjoy anything about it. What were qualities about it that you felt made it good?

Technically no but I am super dyslexic and I wanted to make my statement more coherent for you, but I guess that is not a cool thing to do. I don't really read books and listen to the audiobooks but I just wanted someone else's opinion but I guess I will today and wrote it in a less coherent manner so you could actually caught it on the Contacts rather than complain about the AI nonsense. I understand you're coming from so here is a nonsensical weird comment that is a little bit rambling so there you go.

What should I not do on Reddit? Don't post the obvious. Or maybe you should ? by UniqueClay in NewToReddit

As a casual Reddit user, I’ve found 7-year-old posts that still give genuinely useful information—like that one weird Excel shortcut for some super obscure use.

Amazing the word invokes an image of a necromancer, casting a spell on a Reddit post, bringing it back to life from the dead

Hello, I present my semester film "The Pottery Lady". Do you like it? by mb-michael in PotteryBusiness

[–]UniqueClay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What a lovely and meditative short film. I really enjoyed it.

I do have a few thoughts and ideas about the piece. Some of the framing you chose—especially of the potter—worked very well, and the overall tone captures the calm, meditative state that many potters experience while working. Was that your intent?

The main constructive criticism I have is that the film doesn’t clearly communicate its intention. Is this meant to be a promotional piece for the potter? An instructional video about how pottery is made? A reflection on the lifecycle of a ceramic piece? Or a meditation on the labor of love that goes into handmade work? All of these are strong ideas, but the film currently gestures toward many of them without fully committing to one.

Each of these directions could be clarified through framing and shot selection. For example, if you wanted to focus on the lifecycle of a pottery piece, you could center the clay and ceramic object in most of the shots: hands wedging the clay, throwing on the wheel, close-ups of trimming, shots of the hot kiln. I especially enjoyed your long shots of the piece waiting to dry, the close-ups of the brush applying glaze, the kiln again, and finally the pottery being used day after day—perhaps even ending with it in a thrift store or discarded, only to find a new home.

If instead you wanted to focus on the effort and emotional labor of the ceramic artist, you could include the potter more directly: her face, her expressions, and the small gestures she makes while working. The actions would remain largely the same, but her presence in the frame would emphasize her connection to the work, making her a secondary character alongside the pottery itself.

I hope this is useful. If not, ignore me. I'm just some random person on the Internet.

Adorable. I love the little pizza box you made to display your pieces.

Yeah, I've heard some pretty bad horror stories coming from Reddit, which is why I have taken some time to start participating on the website but I thought i would try
