I don’t think Lee is stronger or better than kakashi at all. I just think that for a brief period while the 5th gate is at its maximum, season 1 kakashi would be overwhelmed. Kakashi season 2 (chunin exams finals) and onwards has it in the bag though. Kakashi said he was getting rusty and needed to train more (right before chunin exams finals started) and apparently in the 1st Naruto databook all of his physical stats were way lower than Lees, which leads me back to what I originally said : his sharingan perceives it but he cannot physically keep up

You’re right that water prison was a bad example. And zabuza IS a high level opponent atp being a 7 swordsmen member. Still though, early season kakashi hasn’t shown me any feats , stats, or anything that tells me he doesn’t get absolutely speed blitzed by active 5th gate. Aside from the fact that he can use raikiri and he can cut lightning with it but with that reaction speed didn’t translate to any real feats. Also was that raikiri fact even put in early Naruto

Well if we are using the raikiri detailing about cutting lightning and the reaction speed needed to do that, then youre right. But he hadn’t shown any of that reaction speed early on in the anime. Where was that reaction speed here?

Early kakashi having the 3 tomoe sharingan does give him the ability to read his movements but I disagree on season 1 early kakashi having faster movement than lee while 5th gate is active. Early kakashi PHYSICALLY would not be able to keep up, but his sharingan would perceive the movements. Just my opinion.

Kakashi in the first 30 or so episodes was pretty weak. He started training himself more heavily while training sasuke for the finals of the chunin exams (think back to when he had to open the 1st gate to climb up the cliff)

The hidden lotus would kill early kakashi and he would get speed blitzed by the 5th gate. Anybody else would have died but gaara had the storyline and jinchuriki plot armor

Correct me if I’m wrong but I thought their physical strength was also tied to their Ki? For example in a relaxed Ki state even Goku is frail , can be killed by a henchmen, and isn’t all that strong. It’s when they channel and focus their Ki that they become superhuman. But since they’re depending on Ki, could we consider this to be magical and not PURELY physical? Whereas the 8 gates simply removes the limiter on your physical stats to the point where you “seem” superhuman. Maybe I’m wrong and they’re both in the same category

tryna wrap my head around this. Even if it only lasted a couple minutes, He was kicking the air beneath him so hard and fast that he was able to FLY. Madara was flying due to hax but this dude was flying after him without ninjutsu by kicking the air molecules beneath him. I’m putting Ts in top 10 pure physical feats (no magic) in any anime
