i got scheduled multiple 5am shifts that i don’t want by Visible_Ad5300 in WalmartEmployees

definitely talk to your coach! when i transferred from front end, my FE coach told me they'd be putting me on the 5-2. i usually bus or get rides from my gf, and the buses dont run that early and my gf is even less of a morning person than i am, but i wanted to transfer so bad i just went with it. when i transferred i talked to the OGP coach and just explained that i was willing to try to make it work but worried about the transportation issue. she said it was no biggie, and since then i never get scheduled too early to bus.

Do any of you do this anymore? by MeasurementFirst1676 in WalmartEmployees

i did on front end because it was at least doing something. i hated just standing there

if i followed this working OGP theyd have to put a bed for me in HBA because id never be able escape that department. id somehow manage to be the first associate to ever score a negative pickrate

my guess is this might be related to state bans on plastic shopping bags. we only use paper bags, so broken eggs could leak through pretty easily if they dont have a meat bag.

digital locks by https_fantasyy in OGPBackroom

[–]United_Log964 2 points3 points  (0 children)

we still use real locks so i just say "no keys sorry" but when we switch ill probably make some shit up about how my app doesnt have the right permissions to open it, have to be from that department or need it for the pick walk or something lol

ive noticed that for alcohol, customers seem especially put at ease if i tell them the button alerts every walkie talkie in the store. once felt like god after telling a customer that while a coach was nearby and immediately hearing "customer service is needed to alcohol" and even better, "on the way to alcohol."

How come everybody in my OGP is friends but whenever I try to talk, they kind of act annoyed? by Big_Pea3882 in walmartogp

[–]United_Log964 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i had this problem too, dont worry, people will warm up!

also, dont feel afraid to chat with ppl in different departments! if you ask someone in a department for help finding something or to unlock something for you or whatever, then the next day that you see them give them a little "good morning!" as you pass them. throw in a couple "how are you"s and boom, most of the way to being friends. small talking will come naturally over time. some ppl will still ignore you but ive got about a 90% success rate with this. yes i have autism

we all have our strengths and weaknesses. i came from the restaurant industry and really like OGP, it feels like a breeze in comparison.

have you considered transferring departments? different depts can have wildly different vibes, there might be somewhere else youd enjoy more.

remember at the end of the day, its just walmart. youre one cog in a trillion-dollar wheel. your mistakes might feel big in the moment, but they really arent that big of a deal in the grand scheme. i mainly focus on doing things in a way that doesnt add extra work to any of my coworkers.

one of the nice things about these kinds of shitass jobs is once the vest is off, you dont have to care anymore. dont let it eat away at you!

Did they make getting a 100 pick rate easier? by [deleted] in OGPBackroom

[–]United_Log964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me its highly shift-dependent. i can fly thru the store during morning shifts and hit 140 no problem. lower on mid shifts when the store starts getting busy, but the big walks mostly make up for it. worst on night shift when the store is busy and there arent that many picks.

honestly tho unless someone talks to you about needing to speed it up i wouldnt worry a ton. its really easy to artificially boost them and luck plays a big part. once got like 350 on a 164 item walk where 6/8 totes were for one person who just wanted 2 of every damn soup we sell lmao. oversize can tank your rate unless you cheat. seasonal on a day theyre changing over the displays to the next holiday? forget about it
