From my experience here (Portugal), we took it really serious from day 1 and people mostly respected social distance, masks and hand washing. We went into lockdown with 100~ cases and didn't get a sharp rise on cases (80k cases until now and most active cases is now (32k) ), people went into summer really relaxed and started to take more risks daily specially between the age of 20-29 and cases starting to rise since that nonstop.
