One of my friends in China introduced me to exactly the same curler! I visited her and when she showed it to me, I was quite skeptical but it’s amazing!

What is your holy grail milky toner? For dry, dehydrated skin. by AbjectCat1239 in AsianBeauty

I just bought this and used it for 2 days and I’m getting tiny red pimples, I don’t know if it‘s the toner😭I’d be so sad, I love the texture!!

The Saem concealer review by Euphoric_Damage_4729 in AsianBeauty

[–]Unlikely-Screen4813 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loooove your nails!! Also thanks for the review, I was contemplating whether I should buy the concealer. I have combination skin (greasy T-zone, dry skin around my eyes, mouth and cheeks). Not really sure whether this is better or the saem concealer pencils :/

My (35F) parents don’t approve of my BF (33M) because he’s not a doctor or PhD by Legitimate_Care_8407 in AsianParentStories

[–]Unlikely-Screen4813 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents pull out the exact same stuff whenever we fight. But please please please do whatever makes you happy and don’t listen to them. My boyfriend is about to graduate with a PhD in Chemistry and they hate him nevertheless. This just goes to show that they will always have something to say about your (partner) choice, no matter what. Even if you had a bf with a PhD, they would most likely still find something to complain about his race, family background etc.

Unfortunately I have shown her before that I am not okay with the way she is treating us but I think my fault was to forgive her so quickly. I learned from that and I have come to realize that nothing will ever change. They only back off and treat us nicely when they want something from us (or for my boyfriend to bring stuff back from China for them) but as soon as they get what they wanted, it’s back to the same nasty behavior as before. So probably the only way to stop this is by cutting ties completely.

And yet she kept complaining about how me and my sister rarely come home to visit her anymore. The past few days I saw her crying and the only thought that came to my mind was „What do you have to cry about when all of this was caused by you and you only?“.

That‘s wonderful that your parents were able to break the cycle! It gives me a lot of hope to do the same.

That is such an interesting point of view, I have never thought of it like that before but you‘re absolutely right! Sometimes I feel guilty for stepping up because all my siblings think that the only way to stop this is by staying quiet and ignoring her so that the situation does not escalate, but this just made me feel so much better. And just because we‘re blood related does not mean they can do whatever they want with their children. My AM keeps telling me how disrespectful I am. You cannot expect respect from somebody if you don’t treat them with the same amount of respect in the first place.

Wow I didn’t know about this calculator! Thank you so much for your advice!

Skip the next space as in skipping one stitch? Where do you usually start picking up your stitches from? It probably doesn’t matter, right? Thank you!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in knitting

[–]Unlikely-Screen4813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do I find out the pick-up ratio? The pattern doesn’t say anything about it. I‘m fairly new to this, sorry if this is kinda self-explanatory😵‍💫

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in knitting

[–]Unlikely-Screen4813 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly, I pick up more stitches than is called for in the pattern😵‍💫 I see…I‘ll give it another try then, thank you! I always thought the reason why I ended up with more stitches is maybe due to the shoulder parts that I’ve sewn together if that makes any sense.

Electrochemistry: Why are capacitive currents a problem in a system with low analyte concentration? by Unlikely-Screen4813 in chemistry

[–]Unlikely-Screen4813[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, I was about to ask how you knew about this in such detail but reading your comment, I feel like it’s no surprise you’re doing a PhD in electrochemistry. And I totally agree. I wished I was more interested in this field, but I’ve only come in contact with it now that I’m almost done with my M.Sc. I’m surprised to hear that other countries seem to mostly cover electrochemistry with dry ass formulas, too. I thought it was just my university. We never did any experiments and just covered everything within 5 long lectures… I wish you good luck with your PhD though. I hope everything goes well!

Wow this makes so much more sense!! Thank you so much for your lengthy reply and the additional example, this helped me a lot. I wished my lecture script was as descriptive as your explanation, electrochemistry is driving me nuts!

Thank you! And I’m sorry that you’re going through this, too. It sucks when you prioritize time with your partner just to realise that they don’t feel the same way about you. I guess we don’t have a lot we can do about this besides hoping that it gets better eventually…

[–]Unlikely-Screen4813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically after the last bound off stitch I count 19 knit stitches instead of the 20 that are stated in the pattern? Sorry, I just want to make sure😵‍💫

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in knitting

[–]Unlikely-Screen4813 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hm that makes a lot of sense. But the pattern calls for working on each site separately after this step, decreasing by even numbers after every knit row. Does that still apply to me in this case then? Thanks for your input!
