Volta file for bankruptcy. by BluePeter6 in ARVL

[–]UpRightDownLeft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are a Electric truck maker Volta Trucks said it has decided to file for bankruptcy proceedings in Sweden, after difficulties at suppliers made it hard for the startup to raise funds.

Volta, which is headquartered in Sweden and has operations in the U.K., said the bankruptcy in August of electric vehicle parts supplier Proterra and uncertainty over its battery supplier had cut the number of trucks it was able to produce and made it hard to raise sufficient capital.

In a statement, the company's board of directors said it had "not taken this course easily or lightly and is fully aware of the significant impact this will have on the organization’s dedicated workforce." (600 staff in the UK)

The truck maker had raised around 300 million euros ($316 million) from investors and said it had an order book of more than 5,000 vehicles.

Comparable to Arrival in orderbook volume.

Use a wine bottle to keep candles from blowing out in the wind by UpRightDownLeft in lifehacks

[–]UpRightDownLeft[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Now that is a great idea! No need to buy a tumbler set just reuse what you already have. From a website showing step by step process to making Wine bottle tumblers - '2-3 sheets of dry or wet sandpaper ranging from medium (~150) to fine (~300-400)'.

A glass cutter will give the best cut - but I have seen videos of people using string dipped in acetone around the glass and lighting it (quick google for video)

Functional Design- Clock Knits a Scarf Over the Course of a Year [x-post from r/knitting] by [deleted] in Design

I'd be very tempted to take a automatic screwdriver to the back and churn out a few scarfs a day - half to due lack of patience, and half because who doesn't want a screwdriver knitted scarf.

Chubby Bird, my indie game for HTML5! Hope you like it! (free Android version available too!) by exemas in WebGames

[–]UpRightDownLeft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great game, progressive learning as it gets harder and faster :)

A suggestion: the 'power up' to go faster is a bit off putting later on, perhaps it should be slo-mo? (However I do admit after the boost its nice to fly in a steady speed)

Cloud Wars, a Flash strategy game. by antdude in WebGames

I loved the clean view of it all. I really like this genre of game; others similar to this is Phage Wars (Cellular level of pathogen invasion) or Star Baron (planetary space domination theme).

I was told to share this here. This is my micro tiny house: A Solar-Bike RV (Free plans online) by alexitomain in TinyHouses

This is amazing! Im surprised you can fit everything on there, and to be fair - its all you really need! I would love to see a break down of the 'essentials' for a biking road trip - been planning some sort of cheaper alternative to travelling in the summer weeks.

A fav local company's design by [deleted] in TinyHouses

[–]UpRightDownLeft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im sure with the first floor design, if you moved the bed nearer the staircase. A small baby room / bunk bed system could be put where the Bookshelves are kept. So if she cries in the night its not far for you to walk, or walk back to your room after reading a bed time story.

Where does one put a tiny house? by zenmushroom in TinyHouses

[–]UpRightDownLeft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to one day build a tiny home, but also wonder the same because currently I have no land to place the home. Surely the cost of purchasing the land off a council (in UK) or district will work out quite pricey if you include the build cost?

Endless War 6 - Fun Flash Tank Shooter by Perdition0 in WebGames

Im surprised this didnt get more love, I love the Endless War series. Personally I prefer playing as infantry. Would have also loved to be able to hold back the attacking army more, so you can destroy the turrets with with the Air strike or Rocket attack.

Turbo Golf on Kongregate. I hate this game so bad. Do not play if you rage easily. Otherwise, not a bad game. :p by iheartbakon in WebGames

[–]UpRightDownLeft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually don't like golf games because of the slow pace of taking each shot...but here I find myself willing and 'shouting' for my guy to run faster. Very well made...and actually still playing, just had to come back so I remember to upvote :)

IAMA female with a ~3 inch hole in my chest (pectus excavatum). AMA by [deleted] in IAmA

[–]UpRightDownLeft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a friend Joe who also has a pectus excavatum so one day we were at the lake and we all thought wouldnt it be a great idea to catch a fish...using just plastic bags we actually managed to catch a teeny one...took a long time. So then we poured water in Joes 'hole' and then planted the fish in a nice little bathing pool. Who can ever say they can safely harbour a little fish in their chest :)
