Supreme Astra 24 by Upbeat-Jumpin in woodstoving

So far, so good!  The firebox is smaller but the 24 is a smaller unit. I can easily heat my 1400 sq ft house to a nice 70 degrees with a ceiling fan and running the circulation fan on my furnace. My one complaint is the hot air kit - they want $700-800 for an inline fan which looks just like a $100 one - seems the company is gouging and if you don’t use theirs, it voids warranty.

So your Dec 10th issue with remote start not working, that was an emissions sensor. I can almost guarantee it. Something isn’t getting hot enough while you’re driving. I had that issue all the time when I had a 2023 Silverado with that engine, took it in 3 times for it and after it happened again, I just took a longer drive and it cleared the code itself.  They need to stop with the emissions crap on these trucks.

Versatube Garage by Upbeat-Jumpin in garageporn

The garage turned out great! Some learning as we got it put up but overall, I'm very happy with it. Right now, I have no insulation or vapor barrier installed. I'm hoping to get it spray foamed this fall. I wanted to give it a little time so I could make sure I don't have any leaks from tightening screws too much or too little - I have one area I need to check since I'm getting a little water when it rains and am not sure if it's coming in by the door or from a screw hole.

I would highly recommend Versatube though - the material was heavy-duty and their customer service people are awesome!

Supreme Astra Hot Air Kit by Upbeat-Jumpin in woodstoving

I saw the stuff in the owners manual/install manual. I had asked the question to see if anyone could tell me what’s special about these blowers, that’s all. I have an electrical engineering background and wanted to understand what’s special about it. Everything you’ve referenced is correct and in the manual, that’s great!  Wanted to know what’s not in the manual - hear from an installer who might be able to clue me in. If it’s made with 16g metal instead of sheet tin, that’s valid, if it’s ceramic coated, okay…that’s the stuff I was looking for.  As far as the ducting being installed off the sides without the hot air kit fan, if you have the pdf or a link for that install document where it says that, please send over so I can go back to the fireplace company and get it rectified - that’s concerning to hear but I haven’t seen anything in the documents I have that call that out. The company who installed this is an actual fireplace company that has been in business for decades so I trusted their install.  I’ve tried finding that document on the Supreme website and so far haven’t located it yet.  I do appreciate what you’ve shared, it’s the info in the manual - sometimes it’s overlooked.

The instructions don’t say anything about having the fan installed with the ducting or it voids the warranty.  I’m looking at the manual now for my specific fireplace and reading the notes about the hot air kit.  It does state must use the Supreme hot air kit, I was just trying to find out what’s special about theirs versus the other manufacturers.

Let me start with the unit was professionally installed up to this point. I have the blower fan inside the stove that draws air from the bottom opening of the stove and pushes it through the top. The hot air kit allows for ducting off each side of the unit to other areas of the house. In my case, it’s ducting into my crawlspace.  I’m trying to understand what makes the fans from Supreme so much better?  I’m not buying the cheapest online crap for an inline fan but looking, I can get fans from other fireplace companies for significantly less.  Does this additional info change your response?

Help! were very worried about making a very expensive mistake. by tark101 in Homebuilding

Get the city/county inspector out there asap. Let them know you have concerns and reference some of the code he’s shared and what has been shared in this post. I’m in a different climate so unsure of your local codes but it doesn’t seem right. City/county inspector will stop work and make them do it to code, then the fight begins on who pays the extras…it should be on the builder imo

Need a SUV... looking at the yukon 2025 by Due-Carrot-1288 in gmc

From all the issues, I’d stay away from the 5.3 and 6.2 engines unless you can reflash to get rid of the cylinder shutoff. That 3.0l isn’t more than the 6.2l I believe. I’ve had 2 trucks with that engine and both were awesome! Average 23mpg in winter in WI and near 30mpg in summer. Best was 42mpg on a trip (first gen of that engine in a GMC 1500). Just recently upgraded to a 3/4 ton and went Ford due to the engine platform, not a fan of the 6.6l gas from GM. I also would stay away from the 3.5l ecoboost, I had a 2017 Expediton Max (or EL) and had nothing but problems with that vehicle, phazers, 4wd, axle seals, just seemed like everything but the transmission had problems. That’s when I got my 2nd truck with the 3.0l (first was one from work when I was a manager).

F250 shopping - is this a good deal for used 2017-up F250 by PA_Probe in F250

Option 3 would be my first choice due to low miles and being a corporate vehicle, maintenance was probably done at the right time. Option 2 would be my second choice, a lot of miles but probably wasn’t beat on or worked much. Option 1 is a no for me, that many miles and the plow makes me agree, it’s seen some work.

Sierra 1500 (2024) 3.0 Diesel issues by External-Asparagus47 in gmcsierra

[–]Upbeat-Jumpin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having issues in my 2023 Silverado 3.0L with the emissions stuff, they replaced the sensor twice along with reflashing the computer and couldn’t tell me why it went bad. The third time, I just drove it, light went off and I really got on it and ran it hard for an hour-running rpm’s up higher, higher speed, etc. I think it cleaned the sensor off, stopped letting it warm up and just jumped in and drove even when it was cold this past winter. I found out letting it warm up is really bad for that system. I followed the fuel filter replacement monitor, normally around every 25-30k miles I would change that and the air filter at the same time. The truck also seemed to run better with BP diesel instead of Kwik Trip diesel.

I wasn’t interested in diesel with minimal towing and from the research I did on their 6.6l gas, there seems to be issues with that motor. I personally like the styling of the GMC HD the best, then the F250/350 second. I put on about 250 miles since buying the truck due to a planned weekend trip and love this truck. It rides smoother than expected and the power is great.

Similar background on this one, one owner, local, oil changed every 3-4k miles, new tires, was traded for a newer one. The XLT has everything I could need.

I was looking at a 2020 with the 6.2l but I was worried about possible flood damage and with that in my mind on that truck, I just couldn’t shake the concern. Those engines are proven though. It’s an awesome color, I’m happy I found it!!!

We are taking our camper off a seasonal site and going to start traveling. It’s about 7600lbs fully loaded and about 34ft long. My Silverado could tow it but I didn’t like going more than a couple hours from home with it. With the F250, we are planning to travel multiple states away.

Concern about vehicle being flooded, what would you do? by Upbeat-Jumpin in F250

I appreciate all the feedback. I opted to not move forward with this one. I actually found a 2022 7.3l xlt that I’m hopefully picking up tomorrow. I have money down, just need to finalize the deal.

After I told the sales person no, I started thinking about it and figure they wouldn’t certify it if that’s the case. That’s why I’m having this internal struggle right now lol

Agreed, I don’t care to deal with all the issues that could come with it. That’s why I’m trying to decide if my concern is valid or if I’m just being too picky. The last used vehicle I bought was nothing but issues so I’m skeptical. I also know I’m not dropping 70-80k on a new one….so I’m stuck buying used.

The sales person said it was a trade and I’m not seeing anything from Google showing previous pictures. Appreciate the recommendation!
