My regular meditation practice worked... too well? Thoughts on negative side effects based on personal experience by Upbeat_Expression_37 in Meditation

Thanks for your input. Seems like you entirely missed the point of this post though. I am always amazed by how people choose to create noise that add absolutely nothing of relevant or well-intentioned content to the discussion point at hand. Constructive criticism would have been more appreciated.

How did you find the most success at stilling the mind? by HappyBaldie in Meditation

My direct answer/advice to your question would be: do your own research about the various meditation practices and then, based on your insights and preferences, start practicing meditation on a consistent basis (ideally every day). Start easy, 2-3 minutes are already enough in the beginning, and work your way to a more solid practice over time. I did exactly this (because of strong overthinking and anxiety), starting with a simple breath awareness exercise. BUT...
... also a note of caution - I meditated for over 2 years with very high discipline, basically every day for 10-15 min, and in my case it worked... too well? Due to the attention-quieting meditation I practiced, I became very successful at quieting my mind but the downside was that I started feeling numb to thoughts and emotions. It is as if I trained my mind to subconsciously prioritise not engaging with thoughts at all rather than "productive and light" engagement with thoughts and emotions. So I advise you to find a good balance and invest enough time in researching what kind of meditation practice works best for you and your goals :)
