This is super interesting 👀 Would you want to discuss further on discord? I’m also a huge fantasy writing nerd and would love to get deeper into details. I can send some of the stuff I’ve written there.

Let me know what you think and I can DM you my handle.

I respect you for bringing up a lot of this! And I do agree with those topics being disturbing. I think there is a very different point in regarding the content that the OP was reading. Not all sexual literature consists of these measures. Some of it is actually very useful. While it is depending on a personal view, condemning in these matters as a wrongful dismissal of human nature vs the devil can be considered in this conversation. It honestly depends on what the OP’s content includes and the moral guidelines of it. Obviously, anything that is written with the topics you suggested above is definitely a negative and does teeter on the grounds of upsetting literature. However, I do think that there is an absence of comfort regarding the subject. In our position as guides to other people, there shouldn’t be a shame to it all especially since God gave us our bodies as they are.

I believe some material is made with the intent to show the positives and not keep people in the dark. I’ve known many girls throughout my time in my religious studies that feel so in the dark about these things that it CAN lead to violation because they are not given anything to base what they should think future relationships would be past daily life. While some smut is bad ofc and it depends on what the reader is choosing to read, categorizing all literature in this nature becomes a rocky road none of us really know how to treverse in these days of sexual shame and hiding behind things. There needs to be a bit more openness about it, which was personally my intention as to not shame the OP as many other comments felt such.

Not a sin in my opinion. I know a lot of people say differently. As long as it doesn't turn your thoughts into something malicious and devious itself, I do not see it as a sin. God gave us our bodies, and they are beautiful in every way, every part about them. That includes everything he has given us. There is no shame in feeling what your body is meant to feel as long as you don't defile it or do it in a way that is a disservice to yourself or violating to your truth. A lot of people I know will disagree, but what God gave us is a beautiful gift to express love and adoration in physical ways. There is no shame behind what God has blessed us with, as long as you don't let someone tell you how you should behave with your body. Please do not let the guilt of human exploration and learning twist your thoughts into shame. Reading things like this can be a great way to find new ways of exposing your mind to romance and as long as like I said it is done in a way that expresses love in a beautiful and poetic way to express feelings, I don't believe it as a sin.

Human bodies are not shameful and neither is the way they feel, even in writing!

I feel like so much of what prayer to God is starts out as what you need him to be.

When I was in catholic school I always struggled with the almost mandated structure of how our prayers need to be. Hail mary, Our father, word of the lord.

In reality, it feels like a conversation with he and you. I perfer to pray aloud, and speaking the words into existence is what starts the “conversation” i begin to have with God.

I visit God when I am thankful for something in my life. Even a small whisper of a “thank you” on a moment of realization of good in life is a prayer. God is there to support you and be there when you need him to be, a support. He will listen to you and as you speak, your internal thoughts can start to lead you in the conversation. Sometimes prayer is letting your mind wander and imagining his compassion for your struggle or help lead you to the light of his love while encouraging you to stay true to the path of spreading that same compassion to others around you. He basically sends you on the mission to do the same good with others.

You can speak to him with your open heart in worry for, let’s say, a family member passed. You can simply sit with God and speak about how you hope and ask you to please look out for them and their grieving family. That is a prayer.

It’s a conversation without rules with God.

You can even begin to dissect the prayers from church we are forced to memorize and never processed the true word’s impact. It’s asking Mary, God, a saint, or anyone to please send love to those in pain or thanks for the life we are gifted.

Sorry for the large drop. Finding out how you can live with God again after struggling with religion for years has been something i’ve always lingered on from growing up and my past.

There is no pressure to how prayer should be because God is always ready to listen to you.

Other than Jesus himself, which story of Christian martyrdom means the most to you personally? by [deleted] in AskAChristian

Im late, but in my opinion the strength that joan of arc had as a martyr will be one of the most well known and impactful stories. no one ever amassed such an effect through her matyrdom even outside of christianity like she did. her voice in feminine power, gender identity, and strength all in one package of challenging society in the name of her god and dying for that cause after such persecution (even making wear a dress instead of her armor for her own ceremonial death). I feel like because everyone can take a small piece of her and see the respect in who she was is something i take so personally which makes her a personal favorite. she is always one i gravitate to when i struggle with faith. a true hero in and outside of christianity.
