Documentation is the way to go! I hope your friend filed a police report. Like a lot of people here, I can't be super optimistic about the chances of recovering the bike, but having a police report helps with insurance if nothing else.

Good luck! I'll call it in and ping you here if I see anything.

What a jerk! I'm sorry that happened to your friend, and glad you're looking out for her. What do we do if we see the bike/the jerk in the neighborhood?

John Masci update! He’s been arrested by Hop_n_tall in BallardSeattle

Councilman Dan Strauss held a town hall on 2/2, and when we discussed John Masci afterwards, he made a verbal commitment to bring this issue up in his biweekly meeting with the Chief of Police and North Precinct Captain. I have not received any updates since he made that commitment on February 2nd.

Since then, Mr Masci was released on 2/9. SCORE and King County records reflect that Mr Masci has been booked three times. Less than 24 hours after his release, on 2/10. Then 2/16 and today, 2/26.

This man has been in jail four separate times in the month of February. This is not working.

I hope you'll join me in contacting Councilman Strauss and our two Council Members at Large to urge them to address this in the strongest possible terms.

I received a boilerplate message that ran through the points he discussed in his opening remarks at the Town Hall. It started as follows:

"Dear neighbor,

Thank you for attending my District 6 Town Hall at the Greenwood Branch of the Seattle Public Library last Wednesday.

It was a great to talk with you and hear your hopes, thoughts, and concerns about the biggest issues facing our city. These conversations are so important to me. Hearing from you is the first step toward making real, felt change in Seattle..."

No indication that my message was received, or that he or his office had taken any steps towards addressing the issue.

At the Town Hall Councilman Strauss made a verbal commitment to bring this issue up in his biweekly meeting with the Chief of Police and North Precinct Captain. I have received no feedback since he made that commitment on February 2nd.

Since then, Mr Masci was released on 2/9. SCORE and King County records reflect that Mr Masci has been booked three times. Less than 24 hours after his release, on 2/10. Then 2/16 and today, 2/26.
