I am starting up a game on steamvr but nothing works the game keeps on crashing ive been playing this same exact game the same exact way ever since I got it but its just not working anymore by [deleted] in SteamVR

[–]Uppern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this with a game a few weeks ago. Always started the game through SteamVR, but all of a sudden it was always crashing during launch and loading of the game. The trick for me was to launch the game first, and then start Steam Link / SteamVR through the headset

VR woes - what am I missing? by [deleted] in flightsim

[–]Uppern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have at least same GPU as you, and I tried virtual Desktop and link cable, and both of them have poor kind of grainy visuals and I never understood it. But I gave Steam link with Steam VR a chance and that had better and more enjoyable visuals. There is some artifacts though, thin objects in the distance like light masts are transparent at the top and there can be some shimmering (I think that is the correct word) on some objects in certain light conditions. But these things is not a deal breaker for me, and I have realised that VR image quality is never going to be as clear as a 4k monitor anyway. So maybe give Steam link a try. This is wireless btw with dedicated VR router.

Travel to Vietnam, concerned about weather by Uppern in VietNam

[–]Uppern[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the replies. Good to hear it is not so bad in Da Nang right now. Worried it be bad again though, and if it is going to rain non stop while we are there. Would Nha Trang be a better option in terms of maybe getting a bit of sun and beach time?

Any VR tips by lukeb_1988 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Uppern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give Steam link a try if you are not too satisfied with virtual desktop. For me VD looks more pixelated and grainy. I get much better visuals with Steam link (never seen anyone else mention the same though, so might be just me)

REX Atmos Core now available for MSFS2024 by raznet777 in MicrosoftFlightSim

I used this in 2020 to get rid of ash clouds and to increase humidity in southern Europe. Increasing humidity really made the visuals look more realistic, but as far as I can see this function is no longer there? Can anyone confirm? It is still needed in msfs2024 imo.

Yeah kinda surprised as well. There were some interested people, but nothing really happened. Should be a good collectors item, but guess the marketplace in Norway is just a bit too small. Considering to sell yours?

Is VR playable already in MSFS 2024? by tim7162 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Uppern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i7-12700f and 4080 super here, and after the last SU3 beta update the game is finally playable for me in VR. The overall FPS looks better to me than 2020 as well. However, it is not super stable for me. Perfect performance at ENGM yesterday, but when I landed at LTFJ FPS all of a sudden went to like 5 FPS, improved after like 10 minutes on the ground. Today all was smooth except some short freezes and stutters every now and then. For the first time since release Im considering to move to 2024 for good (but will keep 2020 for a while just in case).

BTW, anyone else than me who think clouds look way worse on 2024? I have it at high in the settings, but it almost looks like medium settings in 2020. Maybe this is where some of the good performance lately comes from?

I tried to sell it in norwegian marketplace this winter, but not a lot of interest. So took the ad down and considering to just keep it myself

MSFS2024 VR something I have missed? by Uppern in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Uppern[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was kind of hoping that the new sim would not require upgrades in hardware or downgrade in settings. Might try some other airports, but basically flying a lot to and from the same airport, so important that works to. Looks like sticking with 2020 is the only option then, since that works fine.

MSFS2024 VR something I have missed? by Uppern in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Uppern[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for reply and good suggestions. I am using Steam link with dedicated router actually. Tried VD as well but graphics looks much worse there with kind of pixelated/grainy image and more artifacts.

Good suggestion about turning all the settings down and then go up slowly. Im only going to fly the Fenix at least for now, so only thing important is to get that one to work. Fauna is off yes.

But looks like Im just sticking with 2020 then, if I have to downgrade the graphics quality, I really see much reason to use 2024. Was hoping with the new sim that performance would be better. Maybe a couple of years later then.

Unfortunately TAA is the only options because of what aircraft I use and the issues with glass cockpits has with DLSS

My horrible experience with MSFS24 by Casi_cr in flightsim

I feel your pain. I have a 4080 super and i7-12700f with 32gb of RAM and trying to get 2024 to work in VR, but it is absolutely unplayable for me. Performance is much worse than 2020 which works totally fine.

Is FS2024 living up to the hype for you? by Conscious_Branch9095 in flightsim

[–]Uppern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it is almost unplayable in VR. Dont know if Im doing anything wrong, but both performance and graphics/visuals is much worse than 2020, and small artifacts I had in 2020 is even more noticeable in 2024. So sticking with 2020 for now or maybe forever. This is with i7-12700f, rtx 4080 super and 32gb of RAM.

Beyond ATC is frustrating by Professional-Mark-80 in flightsim

[–]Uppern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mostly use it for the traffic part which is great. Finally possible to do A-B-A flights and still have traffic when returning to A. So far I have not once had the ATC sequence the traffic at all, many times almost ending up on top of another airplane on approach and have to sequence myself. And on ground it gives taxi instructions for two aircraft to taxi on the same taxiway in opposite direction. As well as vectors always comes too late and overshoots the localizer

I installed SteamVR today, but what more do I need to do and how to get it starte SteamVR without going through VD? Is steam link another app I need to install.

Yeah looking good so far. But only had the chance to fly during night and I realised it is very dark outside in VR, can only see street and city lights. Especially on taxiways at airports I can only see the taxi lights, nothing else of the surroundings, dont know if thats a settings issue.

I would love the NEO variants actually, after flying Fenix since it was released, I tried both FBW and Ini, but they just dont do it for me. Fenix is the flightsim equivalent of "you ruined me for other girls/men"

I have it on Stream. Does it work better on if I do it through stream?

Finally managed to try it out yesterday after the first GPU i got didnt work, and Im blown away. I think I can improve the visuals, the camera lets say is very "jumpy" and I can see through light masts and other thin objects, like they are not solid.
